A new Newport
Just done a show in Newport. What, Newport that’s near Cardiff and Newport that’s near your parents’ place in Bristol? Why, no. Newport that’s the OTHER Newport in Wales, many many miles from anywhere. This was Request Stops at their most extreme. It took me just under seven hours to get there. However, the show was sold out, everyone was very enthusiastic, and the venue people
looked after me as if they were all my aunts. So, worth it. I’d go a long way for those basic things. In fact I did. I went a long, long way. Some of it with Kit asleep on me. Some of it alone (he made other plans; long story). Some of it writing, some of it having a typically awkward conversation with a couple who said ‘you’re
famous but we don’t know your name’ and sat down right next to me. Now, home. The day began at 6am; it’ll end at 2am. Hmm.

I think there should be a rule that you can’t be up before the sun is.

Thank you so much for making such an effort Mark to come all the way to pembs. – oh we enjoyed….and sorry about bringing my kids! oops! My son has mentioned several times about your near experience with a man which he finds very funny, bewildering and is asking lots of questions about whether he can marry his best friends now – I obviously have not brought him up in a very progressive way.
Thanks again – come back!? sx

“Please tell me you didn’t leave Kit on the train”
Haha, we know you so well, although even you would notice where you had put your own son I hope?
Not only are you an exceptional performer but seemingly an exceptional person too. I may not know what I’m talking about here but I’m guessing there aren’t many performers out there who put in half as much effort as you do. I’m not a religious person, but if there is a God, he is defiintely clearing a little space for you in Heaven x

Well that explains something for me, which is why the Newport i’ve been to many times is referred to as Newport South Wales.

We were there – it was brilliant; best comedy gig I’ve been to. Genuine banter; delicious cakes; bring your own beer; timed toilet breaks for Felicity; small children participating (ish); raising £49 for Pudsey; and the audience won the touch – front row challenge 1 – 0.
What a brilliant Saturday night – we drove 90 minutes to get there, and we’re quite local.
Really appreciate your epic journey – and what an amazing venue.
Thanks
