On the way to the (relaunched) forum
So, last night panned out much as I hoped, in that I managed to host the awards ceremony (The Negotiator Awards, for people who are in property, as far as I could make out), get on a motorbike for the first time albeit as a passenger, weave through Central London thinking ‘I do hope I don’t fall off this here motorbike’, arrive at Broadcasting House and deliver what was one of the better shows we’ve done, even if it did end with me eating an onioSPOILER ALERTn. Thanks for listening, tweeting in, and not sabotaging the whole broadcast by joining an anti-capitalist mob storming the stage (genuinely, we were told to have a contingency plan in case this happened).
You ought to know that the fans’ forum, where people can talk about me, Mark Watson, is being relaunched. I assume you are all spending your days thinking about, and discussing, me, so it’s nice to have an official arena to do this in. I should add that I’m not relaunching it myself: it would be something of a new low, even for me, if I posed as a fan in order to stimulate conversation about me. Anyway, here is the address:
http://www.markwatsonfans.com/
I was thinking that, if enough people start to use the site, I might start doing some little unofficial blogs up there, and maybe sometimes putting my ‘actual’ blog (i.e. this) on that alternative site. My thinking is that this site gets used for official business, like promoting shows and DVDs and so forth, and so occasionally I get asked to take down irrelevant or (ahem) potentially libellous material. It might be an idea to have a sort of secret online bolthole where I could deliver opinion and information in a way that wouldn’t be damaging to my career/agents’ careers/anyone’s life.
DON’T FORGET THIS LAUNCH THING AT THE APPLE STORE NEXT WEEK WILL YOU?
Thanks. Join the forum. Thanks.

I didn’t realise that the forum had gone anywhere so I guess that proves I don’t use it enough. I will try to improve.

To all the people who are scared of the forum:

I love this blog and like it very much where it is. I have never really taken to the forum in a big way. However, I can well understand your need to discuss more “delicate” opinions elsewhere, so think it would be a good idea to keep the existing blog but just make your presence felt on the forum too, as and when you need to. That way we’re all happy, you hopefully most of all. And that is the main thing in my eyes x

I am so bad at forums. I always feel awkward.

Hi Mr Watson,
I’ve watched your videos on youtube and just discovered this blog. I think I will be ordering your dvd on amazon. (Unfortunately watching a gig is impossible without a long plane trip.)
Read your book, too – please write more.

Well, I’ve been posting up new topics and making my way around the forum, hopefully the people will come, Mark, maybe posting up a few exclusive forum messages might gather them round quickly (I’m lonely over there.)

I’m disgusted that you even consider using your official blog to promote events and keep us up to date with your career/tours!
Also quite excited about a private no limits kind of blog where you can write something/air some views and not get in trouble for it. Keep me in the loop.

I do like a good read of the forum…its a nice place to procrastinate and of course chat with fellow Watsonians – which reminds me I should update my TYSIC when I get a free minute or two!Jx

I haven’t commented in a very long time (but have, of course, been reading every day), but basically, yay forum! Despite its dormant period, I still check every day, alas more for spam than posts these days. I suspect that Twitter has a lot to answer for in its slowing down, because, as Paddy says, we all talk there instead. But yes. FORUM! It used to be a great place. It can be once more.

Why would you move this blog elsewhere? I would never find it. There is ‘logging in’ and stuff. Please, leave the blog here.

Forum! Yay! I miss the forum. But at least everyone still talks on Twitter, mostly.
