Feelgood

I’ve just recorded Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask, a show for Dave, which is screened early next year. As someone who’s appeared in virtually every quiz/panel show ever devised that wasn’t QI, I have to say it was among the most enjoyable. It’s pretty simple; the guests have to ask each other quiz questions which they bring along specially. It provides a lot of opportunities for fun without the debilitating cut-and-thrust sometimes created by shows with a lot of comics. I enjoyed it. You’ll like it. I hope it does well. There. I’ve been known to post rather negative things in my time. This one is pure feelgood. Sweet dreams!

I was at the taping of AA’s Big Ask which featured your good self! Appreciated your gentle prods at Australia (the ‘backwards’ ‘stuck in the mud’ thing rings of truth) and your multiple answers. The series could be a good thing…

I’m glad you had fun. I don’t have Dave, but if any clips appear on the internet I will watch them.

Well, I’ll take your word for it and give it a go. The pilot was absolutely awful – very clunky and artificial. And Dave Lamb was completely otiose. But perhaps they’ve looked at that and figured out how to smooth it over. And Armstrong is always watchable, even if he is spreading himself ridiculously thin now.

Shame you’ve never been on QI. It’s a programme that benefits from having guests who are both smart and funny. Rather than neither, mentioning no Jeremy Clarksons.

Glad you liked it! I thought you would. The atmosphere of Tuesday’s recording was also really fun and not too antagonistic. I hope the show does well, as I really like the idea of it.

I really love your feelgood blogs. And I reckon they’re pretty integral in lifting everyone’s mood if I’m honest…
