The Hilton

Some more information about the Apple Store launch of my show on iTunes, which (let’s just remind ourselves) prefaces the official DVD launch, and which (let’s also remind ourselves) I am more or less clinically obsessed with the job of promoting. This is a genuine comment from yesterday, by the way. I may be obsessed but I’m not yet at the stage of making up ‘questions’ just so I can answer them. Madonna’s people might make sure talk-show hosts feed her specific questions so she can plug things, but I am not Madonna: I don’t even know why people keep confusing the two of us.

So:

I was wondering: I think you said something about someone comedic asking the requested questions for inclusion on the DVD extra. Has that been and done, or is that what’s happening at this ‘DVD Launch’. Or both? Or neither? Just curious. And if I haven’t imagined it, are we allowed to know who said questioner is?

Well, the answer is both, but I haven’t been very clear about it. Basically, we got loads of good questions (as well as a handful of slightly unnerving ones). We chose about 10 for the DVD, where they are posed by Mr Alex Horne as part of an extra. These questions include ‘what was your worst gig?’, ‘have you bounced on a trampoline as an adult?’, ‘what’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve done while drunk?’ and ‘what’s the best time you’ve had in a forest?’ – if any of those was yours, you should congratulate yourself.

But there were lots more good ones left, so I’m going to pick twenty-odd of them and address them at the actual Apple launch. There, they will be posed by Boyd Hilton, who always hosts these events. Who is Boyd Hilton? Well, he’s that guy at the top of the blog. He is a TV reviewer and you see him on the telly and so forth. I met him once and he was very nice. The picture shows him with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. I’ve no idea why they are together. It was the most fun picture available when I Googled him.

And at this event, on top of what is already a heap of questions, there’ll be a chance to ask your own, if you never sent one in originally. So all in all it’s fair to say I will have been well and truly interrogated by the time this iTunes and DVD launch occurs. Which is a month away, now. God, you must be excited! If only excited at the prospect that I will then shut up about all this.

Tomorrow: will we see that Very Late Review? Or I will audaciously try to extend what is already an impressive streak of mentioning-my-merchandise?

I often think I see Madonna on panel shows before I realise it is actually you.

Looks like my question got chosen (Anything embarrassing whilst drunk)! However, my sister, Melanie, has reminded me that she came up with it while I sent it in. Can you say the question was from both of us please Mark (if you haven’t already recorded it)? No worries if not, I’m sure she’ll get over it.

Why my mum had to go into labour on the day of the launch 18 years ago I’ll never know but it is preventing my from actually being there. Which makes me a bit sad. Stoopid sister.

This DVD launch sounds very exciting, it’s a shame I can’t attend.
On a related note of seeing you live in London, if we put our names down for a place at the radio show recording will we get some sort of confirmation beforehand? Or is it just a matter of turning up?

    I still can’t come.

I saw Johnny English last night, and am unashamed to say that it is MUCH better than Tinker Tailor &etc. So there.

I seem to remember make up involved after the DVD record … and it wasn’t us wearing it was it Misha?

You really do need to shut up about it now Mark cos I CAN’T GO due to double booking myself. I already have several bruises on my left leg from kicking myself. Can’t stand on my right leg, I fall over, not sure why … oh, back to embarrassed while drunk again …

Anyway, have a lovely time on the 17th … without me … off to sulk in my sleep now … nite x

But how do we know if our questions are on the DVD until then? Some of us may need the whole month just to come up with new ones for the launch!

For Misha’s ‘interesting’ read ‘one of the strangest hours of my life’.

Hah, that’s just reminded my of the really cracking drunken ride home after the DVD record.

    That was interesting.
