Time difference
Tonight’s show in Runcorn was enlivened by a mix-up which led to some of the audience having tickets that said 7.30, and others with identical-looking tickets for an 8pm start. Oh, you can imagine the hilarious consequences!
My advice to anyone planning on attending a future show is that we normally try to start at 7.30. Some venues insist on 8. Occasionally, as with tonight, it begins as one thing and then gets changed to the other. I’d suggest that if possible, you always get there for half seven. That way you can always have a drink/ discuss politics until it gets
going. Whereas if you gamble on an 8pm start… Well. I hate the thought of someone paying their money and not getting the whole thing.
Having said that, as you know, I tend to spend half an hour pretty much just introducing myself, so you won’t miss
that much either way. Sometimes I do a thing about a kangaroo, but you know. Someone will always explain it.
Tomorrow: Aberdare. Not the best publicised gig of the tour it’s
fair to say. Do come/ send Welsh people. Ta.

Speaking of kangaroos – I was at the Chester gig and I reckon you owe us a punchline. I’ve tried tweeting you a couple of times but to no avail.
“Be patient” you said. Now well over a week has gone by and still no closure….

I think you mean the thing with the lack of kangaroo.

I will make sure I am there early in January then, wouldn’t want to miss the kangaroo.

Bravo for mentioning this. We always aim for 7:30. When we saw Stewart Lee in Cambridge a few months back, three young blokes appeared in the interval and sat in the row in front of us and were upset when they realised they’d missed Simon Munnery. So yes, good advice!

Aberdare’s in Wales?
I think this tour is somehow helping me with British geography.

First time of seeing and meeting you tonight, Mark. Was a great show even with all the administrative errors!
One question. Did you have to cut any of your material due to the start time mix up? I’m certainly not complaining but i definitely left wanting more.
I also thought your offer to all the late comers of a discount on your book was lovely. Im not sure many others would have gone so far as that.
Hope you make it back to Runcorn/Warrington/Liverpool soon.

I always think aberdare sounds like a more exciting place than it actually is
