On the road/rails
Just a word on the whole not-driving thing. I’m clumsy you see, and at the moment I think the world is better off without more shit drivers. I think more people would do well to not drive if they sense they’d be bad at it.
Yet I do travel a remarkable amount of course, so it’s lucky I have Long Suffering Tour Manager Giles (these days simply LSTM Giles). Tomorrow the tour begins again, with the first of another heap of Request Stops- in Bordon, Hampshire. I won’t know till I get there if it is a real place. Next week I visit Chester, Llandudno, Durham and Market Drayton and also the Cheltenham Literary Festival; in all, easily 1000 miles. Please come to something if you’re nearby. I am really pushing it here. I’m like some lunatic politician trying to canvas in 11 different constituencies in the week leading up to election. Or like a wandering minstrel. Or an idiot. Or, maybe, a really committed comedian.

I can’t drive either, because I think it is safer that way. However, it is making it even more difficult to find a job.

Don’t leave it too long to respond or I’ll go into unloved, rejected, deep depression mode …!!!

I think I’m the only Cathy Penrose on Facebook Suzanne. Request me as a friend and I’ll accept and then I think you will be able to see my page

Agree with you, Misha …
Would love to check out your Great Wall adventure on FB, Cathy. Do I search Cathy (traineeflorist)???
Am intrigued by the LIVE SHOWS calendar showing ‘@Lincoln all day’ on every date plus the occasional ‘@Lincoln@someotherplace’ … Not a single ‘@Lincoln@home’ as far as I can see …
Oh … I get it, you’ve moved to @Lincoln … silly me!!! x

I didn’t learn to drive until I was 34. There’s still time.

would your Basingstoke date have tickets on the door/are there still tickets in general? I’d like to come along to it but won’t know if I can make it until very last minute.

I didn’t learn to drive til I was 30, I felt pretty much the same as you about the whole thing. However, bugger me, it turns out I’m actually rather good at it and I really enjoy it. Not a girl racer or anything but the freedom of being able to get myself from A to B without bothering anyone else with the problem is really rather nice.
Sorry. That probably wasn’t what you wanted to hear …
p.s. still trying to find a way to get a ticket for Swindon gig, that’ll be nice for you won’t it, if LSTM Giles is indisposed I can probably drive you home

I also don’t drive, but have yet to acquire an LSTM Giles, so am very rarely driven. Suspect you’ve seen more than your fair share of Britain’s railways over the last few years….
In the spirit of clearing up loose ends, any further news on the DVD Launch?

Definitely really committed comedian…Jx

Well, considering I’m now living in Cheltenham, it’d be exceptionally rude of me not to come and see you at the Lit Fest. I mean, I’ve already got my ticket for it, so…yeah.
If anyone wants to come but needs a floor for a night, I’ve got (not necessarily plenty of) room, and they can contact me through the usual channels.

Just wanted to use the blog to wish Rachael many happy returns – it was because if the Watsonian Birthday Audit that we discovered we shared the same birthday!

I was going to learn to drive. I done my theory test two years ago today (so now it’s out of date). I wasn’t allowed to learn to drive then though, because my mam said it would distract me from my leaving. And then I forgot about it. And now I’ll have to do the theory test again if I want to drive. But to be honest, I don’t mind getting the bus. I get four every day, totalling three hours and I actually like it.
Good luck in the shows this week
And the potential presidents are doing that now. They’re like Dublin, Galway, Cork, Donegal, all in three days. I don’t know how people travel that much. They must have really good ipod playlists!
