Technical issues/ time difference challenges. This is to be counted as an actual blog in the event it’s not replaced before midnight. In the eyes of the law I will then not have missed the day. Thank you.

It’s sort of reassuring to see that I am not the only one getting constant rejections from jobs! If only being a Watsonian paid…

In that case Alex, that’s one less rival you have for the next job!

Hi Lydia … I’m having to uncross for a few minutes just to let you know that I’m crossing for you in your job interview today …
PLEASE let us all know how it went … good and/or bad … Chatting about most things throws up (not in the vomitting sense!) other ideas – all of which can be useful!!!
I’ll be watching this space …
And, Jen … could I prevail on you to do a bit of footie finger crossing as a personal favour please??? Ipswich are playing tonight AND it’s on Sky … gulp!!! Prospect of joyous triumph or tragic humiliation!!! (Either way, I won’t see it as I don’t have Sky … in fact I don’t have a TV, I view on my laptop!!!) Mixed feelings again, if they play well I want to see every last kick BUT if they’re rubbish I don’t want to know!!! Who’d be a sports fan, eh???

So many good blogs recently and this is the one I get round to commenting on. Just to let you know, I’m trying with the rugby, I really am. I don’t really have a choice, it’s all my dad will have on. I still don’t understand it. It’s very exciting though.
Chris, part of me hates you, but well done, and good tips. Also, I found out it’s OK to ask to come back to a question, and at one point I actually admitted that I didn’t really know the answer but had a sensible guess at it. Apparently I demonstrated more clinical knowledge than people who’ve been working for 6 months even though I’m newly qualified. Apparently.
I still didn’t get the job, but they basically told me they REALLY REALLY LIKED ME and I came… second. Fuckers.

Hello all!
Somebody was asking for interview tips a few installments ago. I’ve been lucky enough to blag myself a job (first day of training tomorrow) so this kind of ties in with the whole TYSIC thing as it should open up a few other financial possibilities and offer me the chance to travel a wee bit and see the world. Anyway, in terms of advice, all I can say is the toughest thing to get used to is constantly being rejected. Most applicants in this climate are going to get nowhere because things are simply so competitive. So don’t give up. At all. Keep sending out CVs, constantly, and follow up those that you do send with an email a few days later to show that you care and you want the job.
When in an interview, have some answers prepared. A quick google search will show up the interviewer’s usual questions, so you can be on the front foot when you’ve already got an idea of what you’re going to say. Remain calm and confident and ask a few questions at the end to show you’re really interested. There’s loads of online help for typical questions/model answers that are likely to come up.
My top bit of advice, send a follow up email after interviews, I got a phone call moments after sending mine that it had made all the difference.
Keep trying!

While we’re all waiting for the longer version of Mark’s blog (we hope), do any of you fancy sponsoring me? This Saturday coming, I am flying out to China (yes, China! eeek!! never been there) to walk along the Great Wall for nine days. Mad? Yes I think I may be!!
Anyway, forgive the intrusion but I am only abut £400 off my target now and it’s to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis and is in memory of my husband’s two brothers who died from CF.
If you can donate, the link is http://www.justgiving.com/cathypenrose
Failing that, blister plasters and muscle rub lotion gratefully received …
