Northern (Ireland) exposure
I’ve just come off stage in Belfast, completing my epic two-night tour of Ireland. There were meant to be more shows, but they were cancelled. The reason for the cancellation is slightly complicated and to explain it fully would involve implicating some
guilty parties. I will do it at some point, changing names where necessary. Anyway: the two shows that did take place were grand, as the Irish say.
I’d say I had a nicer time in Dublin, but a better show in
Belfast. Quite often it’s the case that the less salubrious the town, the more enjoyable the show. It’s as if comedy is more urgently needed in places where there’s less general jollity in life. Having
said that, on the last tour Grimsby was the worst town and also the smallest audience, so who knows?
I had some Serious Opinions about the September 11 anniversary, etc, but they’ll have to wait till I get to a proper computer.
I am going to Australia tomorrow.

That’s why you have to return to Bradford ASAP, please.

Belfast was excellent. Much better than Cambridge last year. Although that may just be because this was (sort of) my home town. It is probably mostly closed on a sunday though.
Hope Australia is good. If in doubt, just punch the air and shout ‘COCK’.

Australia?! You dont half get about much,
I went out with my soon to be new housemates who went to Uni in Bristol. Lovely people who actually knew who you were but were surprised you came from Bristol.

ah – i love ireland – totally inane but true. glad you had good shows, though the cancelling sounds a bit crap.
fly safe to down below. how long are you there for?
would you ask bec s. and allie f. very nicely if the fear of a brown planet guys can come back with you? i’d put them up in our spare(ish) room (my niece uses it at the weekend, but we can manage it)
