Influence the Irish
Today a quick appeal for help with my shows in Belfast and Dublin at the weekend. There are still tickets left and time is running out. They are Request Stops, i.e. shows scheduled because people said ‘you really should come here’, and most of these were really successful in England, but on the odd occasion you don’t manage to draw a big crowd at a venue that you specifically picked as a request, you obviously look a bit of a cretin. Now, the promoters are confident that plenty of people will buy tickets on the night, but even so- I need to work on the folk of the Emerald Isle. A lot of effort’s gone in to putting on gigs there, especially in Belfast which was constantly coming up in the requests, so I’d be disappointed if they weren’t full.
Therefore I call upon anyone who knows someone in Belfast or Dublin to Influence an Irishman/woman. Get them to come on Saturday or Sunday. I had to do something similar to this with Dundee last year, you might remember, and it proved surprisingly effective and ended up being one of the tour’s highlights. So if even a couple of people who read this can interest a member of The Irish-or I guess, ideally, the entire two nations- in me, I would be hugely grateful.
The shows should be funny.
Thanks.

You may have alienated about three-quarters of your potential Belfast audience by referring to them as Irish.
Ho ho. Just stirring.

I shall be at Dublin Academy, but sadly not this Saturday but the following one and now I feel kinda bad. Im sure it’ll fill up on the night and be much better than my crazy night out in Dublin just to see an obscure 90s band then staying out all night and getting the first plane the next morning.

I’ve pre-ordered and posted a review … which is pretty good considering I haven’t seen it yet BUT that’s the general drift of my review!!!
I’m now looking forward to that “Hello, what’s this??? I haven’t ordered anything … AHA, yes NOW I clearly remember 8th of September around 2 pm!!! Yippee!!!” moment!!!

I am about to pre-order the DVD. I like the t-shirt you are wearing in the poster/link thing, I hope it isn’t one of the missing ones.

Kathryn, bribe a friend to go with you by offering to buy them a drink on the night. It’s what I done. And Mark, I’d say people will buy tickets for the Dublin one, it’s a Saturday night so there’ll be loads of people in town. Plus half the gigs in the Academy are ticketed at the door so there’s always people floating around there looking for something to do.

I tried. My brother isn’t old enough to be allowed into the venue, and my comedy friend is away at the minute. Unless several of my other friends come into money unexpectedly over the next few days, it’s probably just going to be me on my own, which is quite sad.

As much as I’d love to go, I draw the line at driving to Dublin. But I’ve got a few pals in Dublin, so I’ll inform them that they need to go.
