PJ

I’ve just been watching PJ Harvey win the Mercury Music Prize for the second time. I’d just like to say that I think it’s nice that music- which tends to deal a lot in transient thrills- is still able to acknowledge an artist who’s been around for a long time and revisited a creative peak. I’d like to think that in comedy too, in these days of rapid turnover of talent, there is still scope for longevity and persistence to be rewarded. Ok good. You can go back to finding my suitcase or thinking about my radio show. See you tomorrow.

I have nothing against PJ Harvey, and I have no idea what this album sounds like. However, I wish the people behind the Mercury Award would stop nominating a jazz album unless, once in a while, they actually think about considering it for the prize. PJ Harvey winning ahead of Gwilym Simcock may to future generations rank alongside Dances With Wolves beating Goodfellas to the Oscar.

No luck yet, although I did discover that there is a ‘Mark Watson Band’. I like to think that they are a band made up of Mark Watsons, maybe they will let you drum with them?

I was delighted when I heard PJ harvey had won – I liked the way she was decribed as well, as a serious artist who’s medium is the album. I’ve been listening to from the city, from the sea and its ace. As is the new album. Highly recommended.

Just to put a stop to all the confusion on here, I understand that Longevity and Persistence are a new comedy act and, if that is the case, it will be announced on the radio …

Hope that’s cleared everything up for everyone … good night all … I’m off to find my PJs x

i am confused – on the one hand, i’d read something saying the mercury prize winner would be announced today, but then the other day passing through angel tube station, i thought i saw an ad for james blake’s album saying ’2011 barclays mercury prize winner’. my eyes deceive me an awful lot. and my brain, also.

I am neither looking for your suitcase or thinking about the radio show, but rather looking forward to the live show on Sunday.

I thought this post was called PJ’s for a minute and was slightly confused when I actually read it because it has nothing to do with pyjama’s. Anyway, I’m sorry to say that I have no idea who PJ Harvey is…or maybe I do and I just don’t know the name….tends to happen a lot with me. And I’ve not looked for your suitcase yet and I can’t go to your radio show. Hmmm….I’m not sure there’s really a point to this comment. I’ve had no human contact all day though, so I think I’m just rambling. I migth shut up now…
