A painful case

Some promising leads followed yesterday’s appeal for suitcase help. The most promising is that we’ve communally decided to form a Famous Five-type taskforce – which my phone, amazingly, keeps changing to ‘yaskforce’. We have a Julian and George by the look of it. That leaves us looking for a Dick (spirited deputy), Anne
(snivelling pre-feminist girl) and Timmy (hound). Applications open. Thanks for more serious advice too. This topic is still hot. Keep suggestions/sleuthing coming. We’ll get back to winning Eurovision after this. I went to a kite festival today. That is all.

What I forgot to say in that last comment is that I honestly haven’t the foggiest idea how to help. I’m fairly good at solving immediate, small-to-medium-sized problems, but London cabs etc. are forces beyond my ken. So in my Aunt Fanny role I’ll happily support and look after, whilst being oblivious to what’s actually going on
I will be mightily impressed if your suitcase is found, Mark! But the Watsonians seem to be generally a wise and resourceful group, so I wouldn’t be too surprised.

I loved the Famous Five (and all of the rest of Enid Blyton’s works) although it was a fair while ago the last time I read any. From what I remember I think I’d probably make a good Aunt Fanny – I’m good at making sandwiches and mothering people when they’ve fallen into the sea / scraped their knee / whatever.

Someone on ebay is selling a used red samsonite suitcase, and they don’t have the keys for it. Suspicious? Probably not, but was it bright red or sort of maroon?
Other than that, the only intellligence I have gathered is that you may have overpaid for it. Sorry Mark.

If we need an actuall dog to be Timmy (not stealing the role from Chris) Missy would happily be up for the challenge!! Although I’m not sure she’d be as dedicated as Timmy, far too easily distracted!!

Actually, saying that, something else did happen.
I made a placeholder song to hold a place.

Oh christ. Rumbled.
I know I said I could win Eurovision for us, but I’m stuck.
Full Report:
It was all going so well. I appointed myself Chief Integration Coordinator and Zoe Fell, Global Relations and Liaison Officer. I made a video, I made a website, but I couldn’t find anyone to write us a song. Then I got disheartened and sort of gave up. Anyway.
There is a UKEPTDT (United Kingdom Eurovision Patriotic Triumph Deliverance Taskforce, remember) website now, with a video of me and Fell on it. http://ukeptdt.blogspot.com/
After that, it all went quiet.

I totally thought that said ‘yakforce’. I bet yaks could find your case.

In the French translation of the Famous Five books, the dog is called Dagobert.

Anne from the Five here. I would love to help but I don’t enjoy excitement, energetic activity, independent thinking or doing things that involve interacting directly with the world on my own terms. At least, that’s what I’ve figured out so far and everyone I’ve ever met, especially important people like men, seems to agree. I really try to avoid these things whenever I can, so I don’t accidentally do things that should be done by proper valid people. Who am I to have an opinion or impact on the big crazy world! I’m not smart or strong enough anyway, everyone knows that! I think I will just stay at home where it is nice and peaceful and let the boys and those funny tomboys find the suitcases for you. But if you need a hard boiled egg at any stage to keep you going, let me know!

Looks like I’m Timmy then!
I like Corey’s Vegas based story too!

The thing I remember most from the famous five is them walking over a rope bridge. Not sure if they did this in all the episodes or if this scene just stuck with me a lot.

I would quite literally love to be Anne. Can’t put into words how much I loved the Famous Five. However, as Jen got there first, I probably am just about low enough on pride to offer to be Timmy. Hmm. Maybe. Doesn’t look as good written down as it did in my head. Hmmm.

I have no idea how I can help in the suitcase finding exercise, but I do have a story of how you can find or be reunited with things you never thought you’d see again.
I was in Vegas a few years ago and on the first night there two of us got all excited and had a huge night out on the strip and we ended up meeting a couple of girls on a roulette table from Pennsylvania…..yada yada yada we ended up in their hotel suite…..waking up the next day not having a clue where we were. We left in a hurry the next day as our mates were angry we’d missed the planned meet up to explore the city, not realising until later that my mate still had on the hooded top given to him by his newly met aquaintance……….thanks to facebook a few months later we had ‘friend requests’ from his friend which he ignored as he had a girlfriend by this time, I got talking to her though and she asked if she knew what happened to her hooded top as it had huge sentimental value from her time at Uni. My friend wouldn’t give it up as he liked it so much but I felt so bad I found a replacement on the internet which I thought was pretty much the same and sent it to her. I’m not sure she knows its not the original but I felt better, and he doesn’t know what I’ve done……….now although this isn’t the same, I suppose the point I’m getting at with this is that the driver or whoever took it/has it may one day decide to return it or one of their friends may replace everything in it with identical stuff!……..who knows??

Ps – booo to your description of Anne…I think Anne is like a mother figure…plus she’s a little bit of a nervy type like me so I’ll defend her to the end…hehe!Jx
