Booking
I have scooted back down to England for one day only and will tonight be at a club in Central London called the Alley Cat, in a literary event punningly called The Book Stops Here. Do you get it?… ah. You got it almost immediately. In case you fear that this is going to be another occasion that ends up in a self-pitying blog, I’m fairly confident this one isn’t going to be shit, it’s a monthly club-sort of thing; and more to the point there are three authors reading, so even if it was one of these book events where it’s slightly difficult to spot the nearest other human, I wouldn’t take it as personally as I sometimes do, bless my heart. (Is it OK to say that? Think someone else is meant to bless your heart for you.) Also I think there are two regular readers coming, which is extra nice. If you fancy joining their small ranks and you are in the middle of London somewhere when you read this, and it’s not 8 yet, then DO IT. I guess it’s a bit unlikely all those elements will come together, but you would have thought it less unlikely than people smashing up the neighbourhood down the road from where I live over the weekend, so hey – anything can happen in London.
Thanks to the people who promised help to my overworked sister and have the means of accomplishing it. My sisters are pretty good. What with their charity and everything, and looking not the same, but pretty similar, in that enduringly amusing way twins have. Bless their hearts.

Jen … the violence and mayhem reminds me of an oil well about to blow … it’s like the slow, gradual, creeping pressure building to the point of release … suddenly gushing with immense, uncontrollable force!
Let’s hope that all that unleashed energy can somehow be harnessed and transformed into something good …

Riot wise I’m totally agreeing with your peace n love comments…pointless aggression and violence – no need!Jx

Peace, harmony and happiness to everyone …

The reading was excellent; I’m really glad I got to it. Sadly my mother had to leave before your reading, but I lent her Crap at the Environment to read on the train, and she said she’s really enjoying it.
I hope you got home all right, and I’ll see you in Edinburgh!

Are you mad, walking about in London? Get back to Scotland where it’s safe. For now. Comparatively.

Yup, twins are awesome.
Mark, get home safe tonight please.

Stupid stupid phone – ach- keeps deleting my comment just as I try to send it!

Bless your heart. I am literally just about to re-enter England and I’m very (in England!) confused about what’s happening in London. Going on the hunt for some news. Have fun tonight.

Sure it will be excellent … should be, if only to reward you for all the effort and travelling you’ve put in …!!!
To offset the fact that ‘my’ team are top of the league by virtue of beating ‘your’ team on Saturday, I would like to offer my services to flag up the approach of “Footie Finger Crossing” days on your behalf …
If this offer is acceptable, I promise to ‘flag’ on the day before the games to allow those in different time zones plus the evenings-only Watsonians to join in and cross fingers in support …
I’m sure that finger crossing across the world will propel Bristol City to great heights … second only to MY team, of course!!!
Please look on this as my interview …
