Sister support
Did I mention the… Yep. It’s wet. It rained again all day. I’m going to dedicate the rest of the blog to my sister Emma (not the Harry Potter star/perv magnet). Emma is flyering for Avalon, the comedy agency, all festival. She’s 20. The flyerers do twelve hours a day, seven days a week, which is possibly not legal. They get roughly enough money to buy a Twix.
Emma has lost her voice and is trooping round Edinburgh croaking bravely at people to accept her flyers. She is barely able to muster the vocal power to say ‘this is a great show, I recommend it’.
So I’d like anyone who is in Edinburgh, or the vicinity, to find Emma and give her throat sweets or a hot drink. Or a morale-boosting gift or anything else that would help an overworked person in a very wet city. If you’re not in Edinburgh you can send items c/o the Pleasance Theatre. If you are looking for Emma, she has dyed red hair and looks a bit like me but a girl and a lot younger. Or find me and I’ll pass things on.
If none of this is possible, just send good vibes. I’m not sure about the logistics of this but people seem to manage it. Thanks for your help.

Emma text me yesterday, therefore it would seem she is still alive and hasn’t died from germs/exhaustion … good news! Have already arranged to meet up with her when I am up on the 21st for 3 days, although how she will fit this in I don’t know. I think I may offer to help her with the flyering between watching the shows.
You forgot to mention how amazing she and Lucy are. I am totally in awe of them and now seem to have acquired a Moldovian family which I am thrilled about and hubby and I hoping to lend a hand next summer if the trip goes ahead. If there were more Emmas and Lucys in the world (and Marks for that matter), this world wouldn’t be in the shit state it’s in (imo), or at least not quite as much, ok … sort-of-rant over.

I shall try to find some ginger tea to give you for her at the book event tonight. It’s what my grandmother always recommends for sore throats. I might end up doing a very very small amount of flyering myself, for a podcast quiz show called Do The Right Thing (/plug), and I’m a bit nervous about the prospect.

The company seem to have overlooked the fact that they are employing humans not machines. It sounds torturous (is that a word?). Positive vibes are on their way, please allow 2-3 days delivery.

Poor Emma, I shall track her down tomorrow with a packet of vocalzone and a can of irn bru (my medication of choice as I’m working 1-10.30 myself).

Having heard all the weather reports, I’ve been out and added a pair of ankle length wellingtons to my edinburgh armoury (got my first real raincoat last week!).
See you tomorrow (well, tonight) with stuff for Emma (awesome person) and other bits. xxx

I will look out for her during my flying visit in a couple of weeks time. Perhaps you could check on her hot drink of preference? Or cold drink on a more positive vibe (seeing as I’m assuming the weather will be glorious by August 19…)?
