Book event! Everyone loves a book event!

It’s at the Big Green Bookshop, Wood Green, NE London, tomorrow night at 7. So straight away you know if you can come or not. For most people reading, the answer will be ‘no, dash it, I can’t’. For a few, it will be more a case of ‘well, I guess I COULD, but it will mean rearranging this and this/having the money to get there/missing picking up my Nobel Prize’. For just a handful of you, the answer will be ‘I could, actually. Yes! Hell! I could!!’ This is aimed at those in the final camp.

It will be a case of a bit of reading from Eleven, a bit of answering questions, a bit of what amounts to standup. It’s a free event. I expect there’ll be wine. The bookshop is a lovely independent one with a social conscience. I will throw in some bits about my new book maybe. All in all, in its quiet way, it will be the best thing happening in the world tomorrow night (NB haven’t checked absolutely everyone’s plans, but not heard anything too special yet).

Yes. I’d love to see you. I’ll sign books/clothes/plaster casts/contracts to appear at your wedding. And it’ll be a relatively early finish I should say, so would even suit someone with an engagement in London later that evening.

By my own standards this is a fairly hard sell. Please come. You will never forget it. You might not consciously remember it for the rest of your life, but the memory will be stored somewhere and accessible in theory, if only in conditions of forced regress e.g. hypnosis. I can’t say fairer than that.

aaaaah sh*t! this is actually in my diary! but being an idiot, i don’t check my diary (or the blog) til it’s too late. so i’d agreed to take my cousin out for dinner tonight. needless to say, i’m still at home, waiting while she finishes packing (they’re visiting, leaving tomorrow), so now doubly irritated. hope it was all awesome.

I shall be there in spirit. I actually would maybe have been able to afford it but will be elsewhere at 7. I hope it goes brilliantly and that you have a good turnout :)

I would have been coming, but I started my new job on Monday and theres some curry night tomorrow and I feel I should show my face there. Plus I did come to the last book reading. Though I will still be jealous if you throw in things about your new book.

(3G on train died along with long post, must now try to drunkenly remember what I wrote before)
Tomorrow evening I am seeing Key in Camden, unless I say a quick hello to you & maybe even before that I could say a quick hello to Alex, before he drives off to the Canal Cafe or with a slim chance, all three of you meet up after each others shows/events & I’ll buy the beers/you perform an exclusive version of No More Women. Kx

I can’t come, Cambridge Folk Festival, don’t you know, but I do like the sound of this wedding-attendance contract. Is that a one day offer or will I be able to get one at a later juncture?

A very good hard sell Mark. So much so that you had me thinking what I could change to make it along. Forgetting that I’m in Devon and this would take more than just moving ‘x’ to a bit later!! But good work.

Annoyingly I don’t think I will be able to make it this time, but I hope it goes well! :) In other news, the iPod has reached its penultimate stage (me), all that now remains is for me to pass it into the winner. I feel there needs to be some sort of fanfare or something, maybe I should dig out that Windows startup sound from Windows 3.1. Hmmm.

Hmm, you know what? I may well make it. My copy of Eleven, and in fact all your books, are in France though, which is quite a big shame. I might look like a cheapskate turning up without one. I may also look like a weirdo on my own and most probably looking lost, but, yes, I shall do my best to come! Yay. I wonder what else I could ask you to sign… Everything is in France for another week and I can’t buy anything. Ah well, ‘tll be fun. :] I’ll ask brother if he’s about too, but he hasn’t read it yet – for shame! I suppose the whole point is to promote people to do so though… See ya then! (If I’m not lost on a bus, which to be fair, I most likely will be.)

Damn! You couldn’t move it to Saturday, could you? (I will be in London on Saturday). Have just lent my signed copy of ‘Eleven’ to my mother-in-law with strict instructions NOT to send it to the charity shop afterwards! (my father-in-law works in a charity shop)

Me too, there is spirit that is. Unfortunately I do have to accept my Nobel Prize for procrastination tomorrow. Thank you for cheering me up today.

Just so happens I may be in that neck of the woods tomorrow – traffic permitting!

I wish I could come but I will be en route to Spain. We’re leaving in about 6 hours. Ridiculous. I may be without blog for a couple of days, which makes me sad.

Alas I just don’t think I can manage a trip to London the day before I leave for the fringe. I shall be there in spirit.
