The canon
It behoves me to mention that I have landed safely back at Heathrow, completing one of the briefest trips to Canada on record. The shows last night went well enough. Following the elbowy and hyperfunny Russell Kane, as I had to do in the first show, is no small task but I put up an acceptable fight at least. Thanks to the lone Canadian Watsonian (Canonian) who made it to the second show. Sorry I didn’t get to actually see you- didn’t know you were there, even; but still. And to the second Canonian (I’m quite
liking this) who was confused about dates- yes, that’s their website at fault. Sorry about that.
It’s odd to try and believe that well under 24 hours ago I was on stage in North America and now I’m home again. Now that I’m
used to going back and forth to Australia, less strenuous journeys
seem almost farcically short. As we were coming through
the clouds I had one of those ‘blimey, the modern world is incredible’ moments. It’ll wear off as soon as I glance at a newspaper with whatever rubbish has happened recently, or someone in those horrible oversized shades you get in the 21st century.
Tomorrow: book event plug. Next day: book event. This blog is firmly back on track.

I wouldn’t mind a job that enabled me to skip go to Canada and Australia. At the moment I just have to work on getting any job though!

I cannot believe I was not able to make it. I had actually checked whether you had a show on at JFL, I would have planned around it otherwise. But I had a meeting for a film I’m shooting in a few days. TYSIC dreams coming true.
I hope Montrealers treated you right. You have to make your stay longer next time.

Canonians. I like it =)
Glad to hear you got home safe!
I think I have been a bit spoiled by the Fringe, cause in comparison the JFLs website is just ridiculous. I’m pretty sure they only added your name to that show’s page the day after you were on! What use is that?

‘The canon’ is one of those phrases constantly thrown around in my literary criticism classes. I am glad that this is not about that sort of canon. And that all the travel went smoothly.

Glad you made it back in one piece, especially given that you probably had to fly Air Canada on the way back too.
Still disappointed that the timing didn’t allow me to go to the show last night. Bah. Maybe I will see you on a random tour stop when I’m across the pond in October/November.
When I lived in the UK, I flew to NYC for a weekend because one of my oldest friends was getting married (their seventh anniversary was on Sunday). It was a whole weekend of wedding, which was good, because I couldn’t afford to feed myself while I was there. The whole thing was kind of a haze between the lack of sleep, jetlag, and booze, but I had a lovely time.
