Catch (up) 22
Today there have been some vaguely interesting bits of career activity, which is probably all for the best (assuming you are reading this site with goodwill, rather than in the recurring hope that I will have been hounded out of comedy), but it does mean I have not been left with enough time to do an actual blog. I will direct you once more to the weekend’s Very Late Review, which is still taking contributions. We’ve already had more than last time, but I am greedy and want to get more still. Do join in. If you can’t review any of the things, then why not sign up to donate organs, or briefly ponder my forthcoming DVD, or do one of the things I have advocated in the past few days’ entries. In other words, this is one of those Catch-Up Blogs. Probably about the 22nd one. Well, perhaps not, but it’ll just about carry the title. Just about.
Oh by the way, remember the iPod? We began to send it around the country well over a year ago, now. It has been through many pairs of hands, survived many adventures. It is now about to be delivered to the winner. Remarkable. More news on this, and numerous other things, soon.

Blimey, I remember meeting the i-pod at your Edinburgh book launch last August at the festival and almost a year on its still going. If its not delivered soon the i-pod’s sucessor may have hit the market and we may need to do the whole thing again!?

Ooh, iPod! I’d almost forgotten about it, to be honest. How is it getting to me, exactly? If you’re all coming round my house to hand it over can I have a bit of warning, please? I need to tidy up and stock up on biscuits…

I secretly sort of enjoy ‘amazeballs’ too. Shhhh.

I signed up to the organ donor thing, then talked to my friend about it who said she did everything except eyes. I don’t really get that. I guess it’s kind of creepy, but if I was blind and someone offered me eyes I know I would take them. I don’t think you can justify not giving something you would always take yourself.
Organ donation always makes me think of the film Seven Pounds, which I rented by accident. I just saw Will Smith on the cover and figured it would be entertaining. A couple of hours later I realised I was wrong when I was sobbing and completely unable to eat my lasagna.

Alas, I have not managed to meet up with the iPod chain, despite being in the inital list, and can’t make the picnic. Therefore 2 questions (will also get in touch with iPod team directly):
1. Will it still be in London next Tuesday (19th July) and if so can I bring a song then?
Or if not…
2. Can I nominate a song and email it to someone with my message for the notebook?
Thanks!

A propos of nothing, I watched the first episode of Time Trumpet last night, and blow me down if there wasn’t a completely forgotten cameo from one Mark Watson in it. So, given that I’ve got you here and everything, perhaps you can answer a question I’ve had for a while about this sort of contribution to this sort of programme – namely, how much is scripted, and how much is improvised? There’s clearly a framework, but do you have free reign within it, or is stuff which appears ad libbed actually scripted? (Another example of this sort of thing is the head to heads between Sharon Horgan and Rob Brydon in Annually Retentive, if you saw that (I think only I did) – very hard to tell what proportion is scripted).
If you don’t want to reveal trade secrets, just tell us a) is Armando Iannucci as nice as he always seems and b) is Stewart Lee as curmudgeonly as he always seems?

Indeed, Mr iPod. Plan is, it’ll be at the Watsonian picnic this weekend – if you’re gonna be there, feel free to bring a song on a USB stick or something, and write in the notebook. Then it just needs to get to the South-East to visit a couple more people before finally, at long last, reaching Anna. I’ll make sure MW has all the details for a full update of its movements this year for a blog post next week, by which time it’ll be only 2 steps away from the finish line.

Glad to hear the iPod’s almost at it’s final destination! Although I’m sad I never managed to add a song at last year’s Fringe.
And how are the Toblerone bars coming?

I shall look into becoming an organ donor over here. I will hopefully get my driver’s license in a month though and I’m fairly sure you can just tick a box when you fill out that form that says you want to donate your organs.
I’d also like to thank you for providing, not only a source of entertainment with the blog, but a safe page for when my cousin decided to sit next to me and stare at my screen just then. I never know when nude images or inappropriate things will come up on my Tumblr dashboard or Twitter newsfeed.
Have a nice day!
