Today of all days
Just to clarify, I was not too perturbed by the strange lady’s unprovoked attack on my beard yesterday. It was in the category of events so bizarre that you sort of have to enjoy them. Plus, it sounds like I got away lightly, compared with the odd encounters reported by some readers – like this one:
I was on the bus and a man with a tattooed FACE said to me “do you like pets?” before shoving a box full of bugs and flies in my face.
This makes my story seem almost like polite dinner-party chat. It’s intriguing that several other people met nutters yesterday. It almost makes me wonder whether some joker like Ross Noble orchestrated a massive nationwide campaign to say crazy things to strangers. If so I’m simply glad to be involved.
By the way – sort of on this subject – remember a long time ago I did a census of everyone reading? We were going to try and decide what the most common birthday was, and celebrate it as a sort of Watsonian Day. I’ve got a sneakiing feeling it was in fact today, July 7. How many people have birthdays today please? If it proves to be a decent number, maybe we’ll have a belated celebration of some kind later in the week. I like the idea of having an annual celebration and the first ever one taking place on the wrong date. It seems in keeping with the general level of organisation I demonstrate.
On the subject of special days: thanks to several Twitter users I have found out that Saturday night is Mark Watson Night on Dave, apparently. They are showing my One Night Stand again and some other things I’m on. I don’t know why Dave are so good to me generally but there we are, I think we can all agree that a Mark Watson Night (or MWN as I prefer to call it) is long overdue for the nation as a whole. Watch this space for ways you can celebrate this occasion. I’m thinking we all get a mask of my face and wear it for the duration. Even me.

On the subject of insane conversations again, I was reminded of one my cousin had with a fella in a pub who despite being in his late 50′s still enjoyed some recreational drug use. Anyway, the fella came up to my cousin and said ”Hey, you like skateboarding don’t you?, I can get you some skateboarding dvd’s if you want?” to which my cousin replyed ”Sure!, have you got any?” Looking puzzled, the skateboarding dvd salesmen said ”What’s that got to do with it?”
”Well, I was just wondering if you had any!?”
Looking down at his legs…..”Of course I’ve got some f@#kin knees you idiot, whats that got to do with anything?”
”No, I meant have you got any skateboarding dvd’s?”
”Why the hell would I have any skateboarding dvd’s you idiot…….sod this you weirdo I’m off, you can’t have a proper conversation with anyone these days!”

Happy birthday to everyone x
I wish I had Dave.
Also, I have a job interview today, so wish me luck. I feel I will need it. Being possibly the most awkward person on the planet, I can’t see this going well.

Yes, July 7th was the winner way back when; according to the list (http://tiny.cc/wbdays), it is shared by Helen, Natalie-Helen, Andy, and Tom’s son (who I believe turns one today, aw!). Happy birthday to you all!
And speaking of the census, I had a look back at it during a really quite long train ride last month; did you know there were no submissions by anyone with a first name beginning with F or O? There were also no Q, U, W, X or Y names, but that didn’t seem as surprising. Also, Sarah and Beth are tied for the most popular name, with 5 each.

ah – i love the mask (marsk?) idea – everyone could wear masks of your face, and take pictures of themselves watching one of the shows, and upload them. ok – possibly a little creepy, or maybe just john malkovichesque…
(i have been rubbish at keeping up with the blog lately – sorry! – i’ve been attempting to keep up with my life, with varying degrees of success, or rather, failure)

it’s not my birthday today but it is soon so I’m glad July is part of the most popular birthday (if it is indeed today)
I always like the idea of the royals going out in those popular royal face masks for a day doing ordinary stuff but no one realising and just thinking it’s a “wacky” person.

It’s not my birthday today and none of my friends on Facebook, or anyone at work (no cakes) but my birthday is becoming increasingly popular among people I and my fiancee know. For the record there is myself, a long term friend of my fiancee (same year as well!), my fiancee’s Dad’s 2nd wife (her dad is the day after), my sister’s partner, someone who started on the same day as me at my current job, and I’m sure there is at least one more. Oh and the date 09/03/1983

Happy Birthday Andy!
I share it with a girl who was in my class at school as well. and unfortunately Jack Whitehall. 7/7 bombings, NOTW closing announcement and the London Premier of the final Harry Potter film.
And some other things/ people I imagin.
