The edit

Well, now that the excitement is over I’ve been tackling the alarming task of watching the whole thing back. Watching yourself doing comedy, as I’ve doubtless said before, is a pretty distasteful experience; there’s a lot of thinking ‘why did I say that’, ‘why do I do that nervous giggle so often’, ‘I have rather odd hair’, and so on. It’s like listening to your voice recorded, but many times the embarrassment, and with the added knowledge that a lot more people are going to bloody see it.

But I have to say it does look quite good; better than I felt it was at the time. The chasing and the bit in the box came out a treat (this will only make sense to those who were there, but it’s fair to say it won’t come as a surprise to anyone reading this blog that I did some stupid stuff). As for the ‘special bit at the end’, I think it’ll end up as an extra. There are some nice shots of people laughing which many of you will find yourselves in. I have to go into the edit suite on Wednesday and work out exactly what we’re using and in what order, but the main thing is we do have enough material to release the damn thing. So that has to be good.

A HUGE thankyou to everyone who made the journey – in some cases rather long journeys – and laughed and clapped so generously. Also, special thanks to anyone who donated to my sisters’ charity at the end. They took about 500 quid on top of a nice chunk of the profits from the show itself. This goes to building a roof for an impoverished family in Moldova and is massively appreciated.

Thanks everyone. Now try and get everyone to buy it, will you? Ta.

Tomorrow: trailer for my improv show on Dave.

Glad you enjoyed watching back your show as much as my partner and did watching it live. Sitting in forth row and at the end of the row meant the camera was quite often at my shoulder. Look forward to buying this when it comes out.

Wondering if the shouting competition will make the cut?

It all sounds a fun watch. I hope you can get the feel of a Watson gig over in the DVD……that sort of organised shambolic feel….(in a good way)

I’m glad the DVD filming went well! If anyone who got caught laughing in the audience has parents like mine, they’ll be tickled to see you on screen – my dad once kept an episode of Conan O’Brien on his DVR for years because you could see me in the audience for about 3 seconds. Maybe if I’m a good girl, Santa will bring me a region-free DVD player for Christmas!

So glad it went well, and is looking good. My apologies for not being able to come along – work, as ever, getting in the way of fun.

I made a DVD some years ago (rowing-related – don’t ask, it seemed like a good idea at the time and was for charity) and was constantly surprised at how I sounded/ looked. If I didn’t remember what I’d said, I wouldn;t recognise my own voice on dictaphones either – I do NOT sound like a Swansea girl any longer…

Oh, I didn’t think about being able to see people I know in the crowd! That’ll be an added bonus.

I shall definitely be buying it as soon as it comes out! Assuming it is released in Australia. If not then I’ll buy it but just a bit later.

I’m glad you’re so positive regarding it all!

So pleased it went well and you’re happy with the results. I wish I could’ve been there, but sometimes work gets in the way of comedy – I’ll just have to wait for the DVD itself.

I couldn’t come, but I am definitely buying it. Especially since I will hopefully have a job that I get paid for by then. I would hope so, after spending 5 hours (I’m not even kidding) on the Sainsbury’s website this morning trying to apply. I hate online applications.

I’m glad you’re feeling okay about it. It’s always at least twice as good as you think anyway, so I’m imagining it’s pretty brilliant.
