Fire!

I just saw Arcade Fire. It was really brilliant and inspirational. If I could do one gig in my career that made even a handful of people feel like 60,000 people felt in Hyde Park tonight, I would be pretty happy with myself. A lot easier when you can play a
guitar of course. But hats off to AF for seemingly being lovely and normal people who wear greatness very lightly. They’ll never read this but my hat is off nonetheless. Going to gigs is fun, eh! No wonder I used to do it all the time before I started being
the one actually doing the gigs.

Tomorrow I’ll work out who’s won those tickets.

Goodnight.

Just watched the Impro Dear Watson trailer and omg (if I may), it looks AWEsome. Very looking excitedly forward (my words got mixed up there. Jostling, they were) to it on Tuesday : D. YAY (I’m sorry but it looked EXCITING).

I’m glad you enjoyed the concert! I’ve never seen Arcade Fire live, but I imagine they would be excellent.

And I’m with Ash and Misha and the rest; I love watching live music, but I find live comedy has just as much of an impact.

I entered the ticket competition but I don’t think I would be able to go now anyway so you can count me out.
Arcade Fire were the last band on the last night the first time I went to latitude, it was an incredible night and their music always reminds me of it now.

Aislinn, I feel the exact same way. I watch different comedy DVDs when I’m in different moods, and especially with gigs, I much prefer comedy to music. I’ve only been to one music gig and it was an instore. I stood at the back on my own for the entire time because I don’t understand why you’d want to stand in a mosh. Also, comedy is quieter, people scream less and I feel safer and nicer.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels comedy can mean more to me than most songs can.

I can thank Mark for that as your show was the first stand-up show I ever went to. Although the debate is still going as to whether it was John Robertson or Mark that made me fall in love with the particular style of performing.

I’m glad you enjoyed the show though, Mark. I’ve started listening to Triple J ever since Tom Ballard and Alex Dyson did breakfast and I’m certain that I’ve heard their music.

Off to John Robertson’s Edinburgh preview show in Perth tonight. I’m excited! My own little taste of Edinburgh!

This is an intensely belated comment, but in my defence i’m just on my way to bed.
Yes, it is 10 to 7 in the morning.

I think comedy often does the same for me, if not more than music.

    I am with Ash.

You are a lucky chap Mr. Watson. I do love Arcade Fire. I work for the company that sells their t-shirts and other merchandise. I spent an entire day last week steaming 10 billion t-shirts so I could photograph them and use the pictures as the stock pictures on the website. I burnt my face and fingers for them, yet I still love them.

Right on Aislinn. Personally I’m actually more into music than comedy, but I agree 100% with the point. Well put.

I’d like to point out that some people don’t really see the appeal of music to the same level as most of the general public, and that comedy can mean far more to them than a song.

    Unless that’s just me.
