I needed answers

Thanks for helping with my customer research yesterday. I am going to wade through the answers now. Already it’s apparent that a lot of people would like to see a No More Women feature on the DVD. This ‘cult’ spinoff of We Need Answers, invented by me and Key as early as 2002 (it’s believed to be the first game in history), would be a lovely thing to bring to a wider audience, so I will check the legal ownership of it (the BBC put some of it online) and consult with Key and Horne, my co-administrators. There’s also a surprising amount of enthusiasm for a long story about having some difficulty in China which has never even been in one of my
festival shows. All very interesting. Thank you. As I said, I’ll read it all properly now.

There must be at least 3 people out by now??

  2. Posted by MusicalLottie on July 2, 2011

Hey, I was sympathising with the ‘ouch’ in a spectatorly manner! My incorrect challenge is purely a result of my own useless memory, which I am perfectly happy to accept … though if I’m reading too much into your comment Patrick, I apologise. I’m blaming it on Aspergic tendencies.

  3. Posted by Patrick on July 1, 2011

    Oooh, she went there :D

  4. Posted by MusicalLottie on July 1, 2011

    *hushed spectator’s comment*

Ooh, Allie’s right, on both counts! Ouch.

  5. Posted by Allie on June 30, 2011

Double challenge Madelaine – Isn’t Tony an abbreviation, and think he may have been born before 1960 ?? :-( x

  6. Posted by Patrick on June 30, 2011

    Ouch, bad luck Lottie!

  7. Posted by MusicalLottie on June 30, 2011

Oops, mis-remembered the rule – it was no more people with double letters in their first and last names – sorry Madeleine

    *gracefully bows out*

  8. Posted by MusicalLottie on June 30, 2011

Challenge Madeleine: Tony Abbott has two sets of double letters in his name.

Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen – No more double barrelled surnames.

  11. Posted by Ingrid on June 29, 2011

  14. Posted by Allie on June 28, 2011

Thank you for that kind thought Jen…I think that as the instigator of this game it should be the decision of Patrick as to whether I should be allowed back in, as my Artist would have been ok if Jen had gone out for the jamie misdemeanor. x

  15. Posted by Jen on June 28, 2011

As Mark has said Jamie is no longer valid I will indeed bow out respectfully -booooooo -hehe- I would however like if possible Allie to take my place as she defended Jamie gate n did only leave the game after artist clash in comment 34/35!!Good luck y’all!!Jx

    Eeeek sorry Allie….Challenge Sarah – no more Marks…Mark is definitely a Mark…hehe!
    Wayne Rooney…no more footballers!Jx

  21. Posted by Sarah on June 28, 2011

Mark Watson ;) No more comedians

  22. Posted by Andrew on June 28, 2011

Rupaul is not transgender, just a drag queen. Just thought I’d mention it.

  23. Posted by LisaD on June 28, 2011

It does but it isn’t. It’s actually a relatively common girl’s name in the southern US, also a flowering herb. ;)

  24. Posted by Ingrid on June 28, 2011

Rodger federer – No more tennis players. (:

  25. Posted by Patrick on June 28, 2011

Rue Paul – no more transgender celebrities

  27. Posted by Lizzy on June 28, 2011

Douglas Adams – No more people born before 1960

  28. Posted by Patrick on June 28, 2011

Ouch, one down :D Because we’re playing some kind of massive variation, I’m going to impose some ending rules, because I started it. Nyer.
The game ends when three people are out. Once the third challenge has been found succesful, the number of moves played by the remaining players will be counted- most moves wins. Yeah, that’ll do.
Kevin Macdonald- no more surnames beginning with M.

  29. Posted by Allie on June 28, 2011

OH BUGGER….jen you must have done that while I was thinking!!!!!!
    Thats me out :-( x

  31. Posted by Jen on June 28, 2011

Vincent Van Gogh – no more artists!Jx

  32. Posted by Laurs on June 28, 2011

JRR Tolkien – no more people who go by their initials.

I bloody love NMW, its a great concept!

  33. Posted by LisaD on June 28, 2011

Since Jamie has the same number of letters as James it should be fine as the rule was not “no more nicknames.”

Stephen Harper – no more prime ministers

  34. Posted by Steph on June 28, 2011

    Douglas Adams- no more authors

  35. Posted by MusicalLottie on June 28, 2011

Jamie Oliver is actually a James … the decision now depends on whether Jamie is an abbreviation (technically not, as it’s the same number of letters and more syllables! but … ) or a nickname.

This is the first opportunity I’ve had to play NMW that I may end up posting far too many comments. For this I apologise, Mark!

  36. Posted by Jen on June 27, 2011

I think Allie makes an extremely convincing argument!!plus surely Jamie in itself is a name and therefore can’t possibly be both full and shortened…the world would self destruct with such a dilemma!Convinced??Jx :)

  37. Posted by Allie on June 27, 2011

Hmm, good challenge Patrick. Well I suppose it is not shortened as it is the same amount of letters has his real name ‘James’ so I’m not sure of that one!

  38. Posted by Patrick on June 27, 2011

    Potential Challenge:
    Is Jamie a shortened name?

  39. Posted by Allie on June 27, 2011

Bagpuss – No more fictitional characters!

  40. Posted by Jen on June 27, 2011

Jamie Oliver – no more TV chefs!Jx

  41. Posted by Allie on June 27, 2011

James Cook – No more explorers

  42. Posted by Patrick on June 27, 2011

    Mark Watson, no more Marks.

  43. Posted by MusicalLottie on June 27, 2011

Benedict Cumberbatch – no more actors. (Or I could say no more people whose names ‘sound like a fart in the bath’ but that’s a rather subjective category.)

    … I can’t believe I’m posting that.

  44. Posted by Lydia on June 27, 2011

Haha, No More Women is awesome. I hope you’re able to use it.

  45. Posted by Lydia on June 27, 2011

I am a bit crap for this since I only started watching your stuff in the last couple of years. If the No More Women thing is on the internet I’ll go and have a look for it.

  46. Posted by Lizzy on June 27, 2011

  49. Posted by sarahthemonkey2 on June 27, 2011

I’m just glad for one of the other Sarah who pointed me towards youtube to find out what it was all about. Enjoyed an afternoon of watching it back to back but then tried to explain it to my sister who after 8 hours at work, it took awhile to click what was going on.

Can I just say I’m happy to be back in the world of the blog after being at Glastonbury since last Wednesday. Cracking week, but I’ve had to wait all that time to find out what the reaction was to the nearly Blogless Day and it’s lovely catching up in the car on the way home.

  51. Posted by Tibbs on June 27, 2011

I’m going to add to the requests for this China story, just because I keep hearing it mentioned and don’t know what it’s about!

And NMW is excellent. I watched it somewhat obsessively when I was in Korea; it was very helpful for distracting me from the homesickness.

As for other possible special features (I’m such a sucker for special features on a dvd, just love them), I was thinking it would be nice to see you give a tour of somewhere, like maybe your favourite venues or something like that. And if you do an audio commentary (which would be great), it might be nice if you could get some other comedians in on it, like how Dara Ó Briain and Ed Byrne team up to do the commentaries on their respective dvds.

Crisis averted, Alex is helping out because she is a star.

  54. Posted by Misha on June 27, 2011

This is a long shot, but here goes.
My bank have utterly fucked me over, putting charges on my account, which mean i’m £130 in debit. Long story short, I don’t have the £6.80 necessary to buy coach tickets.
Is anyone at all even remotely going my way who could possibly give me a lift to the DVD record? I’ll happily chip in on petrol retroactively.

  55. Posted by Jen on June 27, 2011

Paul McCartney – no more musicians !Jx

  56. Posted by Allie on June 26, 2011

Ed Milliband – No more shortened first names.

  57. Posted by Suzanne aka Senior Watsonian on June 26, 2011

Can’t think why, but gabble could be a good word to include!!! ;-) Noticed it appeared in one of your answers at the end of paper back Eleven …

  58. Posted by Patrick on June 26, 2011

William Shakespeare, no more people with surnames ending in vowels.

  59. Posted by Sarah on June 26, 2011
