The blogless scare
For the first time in its life, the blog went offline yesterday, along with the rest of this site. I was alerted to the situation- obviously, a deeply disturbing one- by helpful readers. As
midnight approached we hatched the plan of me posting a Comment on my forum which would serve as an official blog. It’s still there of course and you can read it. So it was not exactly a Blogless Day. No blog appeared on this site, but then, this site did not technically exist for the period in question. It is for regular readers to decide, but- although it upsets me to leave a day unrecorded here- I think I’m going to regard the blog’s 100 percent record as still being intact, since a piece of writing was composed and submitted
to the public in the guise of a blog.
Still: a testing time for us all. As with precious scares, I
am taking steps to ensure this is not repeated. I have sacked
my management team, my computer, and the people who run the Internet (Jim and Karen Google). May we never
face these adverse circumstances again. Normal blogging should re-start tomorrow.

I’m glad Jim & Karen Google are getting the comeuppance that they deserve. I will admit, I was a little concerned the other day when I tried to log onto the blog and the page wouldn’t even load. I’m glad you sorted your way around it. May we never see the dreaded blogless day!

I do like the phrase “precious scares”. I presume it was meant to be previous scares, but I’m not pointing out the typo for the sake of it, but for two bona fide reasons. Firstly, The Precious Scares would be a hell of a name for a band. And secondly, how glorious is English, that two words like precious and previous can be only one letter apart but pronounced differently? I do so love this ridiculous language. I suggest anyone who finds pleasure in such things to head to the Wikipedia page about heteronyms for minutes more fun.

I’ll have my extra g back if that’s ok, I’m glad the blog is ok but it doesn’t need an extra g. I blame early mornings and using too much brain power else where!!
