Dad day

No official blog today. I’m awarding myself one of my
occasional days off in recognition of my 16 months of excellent service as a dad. Also, I didn’t get home from Kendal until 3 this morning. I hope you had a nice day with your father/ as a father/ aiming to become a father. As I said last year, dads can
be less than perfect, but it’s a hard job. 2nd hardest parenting role. Well done to us all.

I forgot about father’s day until about two o’clock when my uncle came over to pick up his kids and they said it to him. A four and seven year old could remember it, but I couldn’t. I also forgot to buy a present….and a card. I signed the one my little sister bought. Does that make me a bad person?

I said thanks to my mum for looking after me and my brother, because she really shouldn’t have had to do it all on her own. I think there are some dads you’re probably better off without anyway.

I hope you had a good father’s day. And a good sleep catch up. x

As very possibly the only father of four who comments here semi-regularly, I feel it would be remiss of me to let this one past. This was my 17th Fathers Day as a recipient. They started as exciting and special, then got a bit routine, but now the older children can think (and thus be thoughtful) for themselves, this one was a twice-moved-to-tears job. Children out there – especially late teen children – do not underestimate what it will mean to your parents for you to tell them how you appreciate what they do for you. Even on non-designated-by-Hallmark days.

I’ve just offically moved back in with my mum and dad, my dad cooks me lots of fish. I may never leave again.

Happy Father’s Day, Mark and all the other fathers out there! I had a nice day (apart from the bit where I was at work); went with my mom to visit my grandfather’s grave, which was a bit sad but still nice, and then we had a lovely meal with my dad, uncles and various cousins. After which I decided to walk the block to my house, and was tailed “jokingly” by my father in the car most of the way home. It’s somewhat exasperating, but also still nice to know that he worries about me.

Hope everyone has had a lovely time celebrating the day of fathers.

Poor start to my day, dreamt I was being chased by zombies, found a boat, rowed away, fell out boat, Zombie attacked, I died. Then I awoke, had a little bit of trifle and some tea. Printed off a frog I had drawn on paint. Put frog in a frame. About to eat a doughnut. A good turn around I think.

Well done for 16 months as an excellent dad, it must be hard at times.

I rang my dad earlier and also sent him toffee and a Horne Section song. He was pleased. I was sad because I dont live near him any more. But Ive had many a drink in his honour tonight as he shaped me as a person and I’m very grateful.

I have always wondered why Australia has Fathers’ Day on a different day to the rest of the world.

Hope you’ve enjoyed your second Father’s Day a great deal.

Congratulations in achieving excellence in Dadness. I travelled 170 miles to see mine today, and gave him a home made present too! (baked him scones – well what are you supposed to buy dads with everything?? ) Hope all dads have enjoyed their day.

I had a nice day hiding from my Dad. Sad but true, we get on far better out of each others company. I did send him a card though. Happy dad day dads.
