Extra extra

Today I’ve been making arrangements for various extras which will go on the DVD I’m proposing to release in November this year, and which quite a few of you are kindly coming to the recording of – to hit you with a rather unpleasantly constructed sentence.

One of these extras involves the Walk of Fame at Bristol Zoo which you might recall some talk of months ago. Thanks to a concerted effort by readers of this blog and Twitter followers, I managed to surf the ‘public vote’ into this parade of famous Bristolians which now graces one of the South-West’s finest zoos. If not THE finest. I’ve not yet seen this accolade – perhaps the last time MARK WATSON will appear on a nameplate in a public place until the one we try not to think about – but before the DVD recording I’m going to go and check it out, and talk to some people from the zoo, and (wait for it) maybe even the Lord Major of Bristol. The resulting featurette will, you’ll agree, be one hell of a DVD extra. Worth buying the DVD even you throw the actual disc away and just watch the extras.

There’ll also be ‘backstage footage’ from this tour, which is mostly me musing on the futility of my job/life in the backrooms of provincial arts theatres and Giles swearing plangently at bad drivers. Plus, some extracts from the Bloomsbury show I did in 2008 which was meant to come out on DVD but didn’t, for dull reasons. And there will also be a SUPER EXTRA DVD FEATURE which someone will soon win the right to be involved in, via this blog. I’ve already mentioned this to my mailing list but we’ve not quite sorted the details out. Be assured though, it will happen soon. I told you I’d take requests and build a tour around them. It sounded far-fetched to some. But look at me now. I’m in Fareham. Tomorrow I’m in Shrewsbury. I mean what I say. Always. Almost always.

Just realised that all of (or at least most of) the regular commenters are female.

I’m still here (me being a Chris-short-for-Christoper person) although I do have a habit of being a bit of a lurker/QIP, but still representing the other 50% of society.

Also, there’s a chance I may be able to make the DVD filming. Possibly. Fingers crossed.

Looking forward to the Shrewsbury gig tonight. Not to suggest that you need help with your material but any chance of a beardy joke for my husband Chris?! He’s a young man who’s embraced old-man-hirsuit. I’m not complaining – i like it, but i also like taking the p’ss.
I’ll buy you a pint after?!

Oh, you should have an audio commentary! But who should you do the commentary with? Something for a future blog post, my dear Mark Watson.

It’s nice that you’re putting effort into DVD extras, not everyone does!

Well I am coming to Bristol to watch you record this on the 3rd .. and now I discover it would be to my advantage to buy the DVD as well? so you get two lots of money out of me Mr. Watson? Oh well, as it’s you, wouldn’t do it for anyone else mind …

In all seriousness (just for a change), I’m delighted to be involved in anything you do (haha not private stuff of course) so I’m really looking forward to it.

My bedtime now … laters x

Lord Major of Bristol sounds like a cool title. I would be there, of course I would, but circumstances. Bloody inconvenient unenjoyable circumstances. I’ll buy the DVD as soon as those circumstances desist though. :]

Ooo this is all highly exciting.

Bristol Zoo is amazing from what I remember. (Although a lot of what I remember involves being led around by my neck by my grandmother). Good penguins.

I know what I’m asking for this Christmas! I’m very sad that I can’t come to your Manchester gig (we’ve had our staff cut by almost half and they’re being very harsh with when we can take time off) but at least I can watch the DVD with the lights off and get my family to keep walking in and out and chomping on food and before I enter the lounge somebody can take away my water bottle, then it will feel just like a real gig. :-)
