Hero/arm

Just did show in Harrogate. Once more I’m forced to blog on my phone and against the clock, so there won’t be much content. However I can briefly reveal that tonight I left a fan letter to one of my heroes, who’s playing the venue in a few weeks’
time. And also, my right arm is doing this thing where it sort of shakes slightly from time to time. I’ll expand on the fan-letter theme tomorrow. The arm, I like to think, will have sorted itself out by then. (It’s not trembling; more sort of shaking on the inside, if that makes sense.) If you’re up early tomorrow for some reason, you can hear me being interviewed on BBC 6 Music about nine. This isn’t early for me any more, with the baby, but I can remember when it was.

If the arm thing is still happening when ur in Exeter tues/wed I know a very good Physio clinic that would be more than happy to try and help you out! But hope it has settled now!!

The arm thing is a bit worrying, but Pandora’s advice sounds quite good. And I love the idea of performers leaving letters for each at venues. I hope he or she gets it!
Also, I am currently on a train, and will be almost continuously for the next 28 or so hours. So far it’s going quite well; I’ve done this journey a couple of times years ago, and I can tell you the resent addition of wifi is making it infinitely more pleasant to do my bit for the environment that it might otherwise have been.
Also also, I love drunk Misha. She is “intruiges”. Bless.

I think you should do what Rachel/Pandora says.
Also, I’m coming to Exeter on Wednesday! Which is very exciting for me. And I’m bringing my mum, because she needs cheering up. So yeah, no pressure or anything.

I wrote a fan letter to someone once and got the loveliest letter back which was the best surprise ever, and it came with presents too! I hope whoever it is gets your letter.

i had a nose on the harrogate theatre website too – i really want it to be ray winstone, but have a feeling it may be one of the others up there.
the idea of the letter itself sounds brilliant – i was talking to a friend today who has had lovely letters from benkamin zephaniah after a letter she wrote him telling him how he’d inspired her to become a poet. it ended up with her actually performing one of her poems for him. so yes – all hail the fan-letter!
hope your arm has stopped twitching..!

I think I’ve had that type of thing on the inside of my arm before, it went away all by itself. During his Paxman interview (I think), Christopher Hitchens was saying that people should always write to those they admire, said he wished he’d done it more and that it is all to often under-estimated how uplifting and brilliant it is to recieve such a letter.

Ah yes, I’ve just checked the Harrogate Theatre listings too. Seriously hope he gets the letter all right – it’d be a bloody disaster if Alistair Campbell picks it up by mistake two days later.

re: arm. Lay off the coffee, drink some milk, stop being stressed and get some sleep. You have to listen to me, I’m a professional.
Also, fan letter-wise, I nosed at the Harrogate website. If you’ve not written to Patricia Routledge or Peppa Pig I’ll be very disappointed.
