Mark Watson the Comedian

Tonight saw the end of my Wellington season and the end of my whole Australia/New Zealand tour. I would like to thank all those in New Zealand who braved the squalid casino (Auckland) or the dangerously high winds (Wellington) to see me. And for that matter all the Aussies who helped make it a typically enjoyable trip to what I like to call the Fun Hemisphere. I will be back early next year with a new show, which I’ll begin concocting on the many British shows which lie ahead. If you are in Melbourne or Sydney you might also find I’m on your doorstep again in September, doing ‘work-in-progress’ evenings to see what’s funny and what is an awful shame.

While I’m summarising my movements to come, I would like to remind you that I’m recording my first DVD in Bristol on July 3. The tickets cost not very much and the money goes to my sisters’ charity for kids in Moldova. Definitely come and see this event, if you can. I will be racing through the cream eight years’ material in two hours. But you know me, I will spend most of the time saying things like ‘oops, THAT won’t be going on the DVD’. Anyway – fun in store.

Also, another thing I’m doing: I’m in that Great Ormond Street gala at the O2, as I was last year. Not sure if this is sold out yet, but basically every funny person in the world is in it except Cleese. You could think about going to that too. It’ll be full regardless though, so I guess I’ll try to keep your attentions focused on the DVD shoot. Hmm.

That’s all from me. I am up at 3am here, watching the FA Cup Final. Since 1985 I have watched twenty-six out of the twenty-seven Cup Finals, missing just one. Trivia fun: which year did I miss it? Clue – I have mentioned it before on this blog.
