Eleven paperback promotional social fun

Here, then, are the book events I mentioned yesterday. All these are to promote the paperback version of Eleven, which is released very soon. NB yesterday I was joking about the paperback having a new ending. It’s the same bloody ending I’m afraid. But it was true about the Q and A.

May 30 – Hay Festival. Book reading and interview-type event. Fun.
June 13 – Foyles, Charing Cross Road. Official launch of the paperback. Comedy, readings. Appalling amount of fun. Almost horrible.
July 28 – Big Green Bookshop, Wood Green. Again, readings, general literary larks. Despicable fun.
Aug 8 – The Book Stops Here, Denmark Street. This is a regular literary night so there will be other, probably more reputable, writers on alongside me. Again, I can only forecast worrying levels of fun.

In addition to this, I’m going to be at Latitude. By that, I unfortunately just mean I’m going to be there. I am doing comedy. I’m not doing a book event because apparently they have a rule that you can’t do two consecutive years in the book tent. You might ask why such scruples do not govern the comedy tent. And you’d be well within your rights. Still, rather than complain, I’m going to take matters into my own hands. If you are going to be at Latitude, or know people who are, I think I’ll organise my own book reading at some point during the Sunday. I will just set up somewhere and read bits of the book. It’ll be proper unofficial festival fun like at Woodstock. So if you’re thinking of going, let me know and we will plot this.

You might be thinking ‘yes yes, books. Books, schmooks. What I really want is to see you do an improv show where you’re the host and it’s on Dave’. Just such an event will occur on May 27, when we do a TV pilot of the improvisation show I first mentioned some months ago. You can get tickets by clicking this link. Except the link seems so long, I’m not at all confident in it. But if it doesn’t work out, contact Misha via this blog. She has some spare tickets. I would be well pleased if blog readers turned up. It’s easier than performing to people I don’t know.

So – yes. Book readings. Improvisation refereeing. Join in with these things if you possibly can. I’ll see you at them, I hope. Let me know if you are coming.

(Also The Book Stops Here *is* fun. Come early if you want a seat, mind.)

I’m at Latitude and definitely up for an unofficial reading somewhere on Sunday. Even if you haven’t changed the ending.

I swear my pre-order copy was paperback. Either that, or the term “hardback” means nothing these days.

Splendid. Those book events are very convenient if you’re me, and The Book Stops Here sounds particularly fun. I have my impro ticket – sounds like you’re going to see quite a lot of familiar faces…

I am excited by so much. I’m predicting my presence at the June 13th one at least.

Also I do have spares for the improv show. I over estimated the amount of friends I have. First come etc but you are welcom to the 3 I have.

I’ll check here again but my twitter is @QueenoftheBerri which might be more reliable!

All except the Hay Festival are now indelibly entered into my diary (a lot of things go in pencil, as i hate scribbling stuff out).

let me know if you’d like pics of any of the events – i’ll always have my camera on me anyway, but if you specifically do, i’ll make sure i get proper good ones, and won’t be as self-conscious about the clicking!

I’m just happy that there isn’t another ending. Was going to end up with two copies of the book then. However may still buy it for the Q & A

Thanks for the offer, but I’m now sorted.

    This is an exciting Blog!

I really hope to make the Wood Green “general literary larks” on the 28th. It’s only a twenty minute walk or thereabouts, so very convenient. It will be something to look forward to given that I have a dentist’s appointment the preceding week!

Are you still in NZ? I love the place and would dearly like to go back for a third time. On a random note, I also love airplane food – handy when it’s such a long haul. I think it’s all those neat compartments! Enjoy your flight back to Blighty, whenever it may be.

If anyone has a spare for the improv, I would love to go :)

I should like to make it to a book thing, but I make no promises.

I’m also afraid i’ve allocated out my spares now, however Kate has a spare, and Natalie I believe has 2 or 3. I too would like to see blog readers there, we could have a Watsonian get together again.

Looks like I’ll be able to make it to the last of the reading events, woo!

Shame they won’t let you do an official reading at Latitude, but unofficial stuff can be a lot of fun too.

I shall do June and/or July, being the particularly eager person that I am. Also I am coming to the tv thingy. WAHEY.

I should e able to make the 13th June and possibly august. is it just a turn up event or need tickets?

also be at the reirding on the 27th, looking forward to it. So…yeah I may be a bit everywhere over the next few months.

shame you’re not allowed to do literacy tent again this year was my highlight last year!

I got all excited about the improve show but it is the night before the very early morning when I get on a plane and get out of here for some East African sun (and rain). Damn it. Or not, depending on which way you look at it.
However it was very kind of you to arrange the book events for when I get back. Because I imagine you did plan these around my holiday for which I thank you. Hooray!

I shall be with you on the 13th and the 8th for fun times! I shall also be at the improv show recording on the 27th.

Im in the process of interviewing for new jobs. Should I get one then I shall also be in attendance at Latitude. Theres just no stopping me.

I’m going to be at Latitude. First festival ever, and I’m going on my Todd, as long as you don’t clash with Adam Ant I will be there (no-one prevent me from seeing Adam live so please don’t think you would lose out to many people).

One point though Robin Ince is in the litracy tent and a friend mentioned he did a show in there last year. If there is one thing I cannot stand it is “one rule for one, another for another”. Not a dig at Robin at all,he is fantastic, but just a shame you cannot do a “proper reading”

Also I will try and wangle the 13th off work so I can be part of the official launch.

I don’t have anything constructive to offer, alas. It’s just there are no comments yet, and I want to see if one appears in the time I am typing this, in which case I will be convinced of some sort of conspiracy.
