Sushi

So, as part of my 31 new year’s resolutions I vowed to be more adventurous with food. Adam Hills gently reminded me of this when I was on his show this week. Accordingly, today I ate sushi. It was nice. I’ll hold my
hands up and admit it- I thought sushi was always fish. Turns out it can
be things like duck.

This was duck.

So, yep. Good effort. Will have more sushi and report
back.

Thanks for all the messages of support
after I was tempted to discontinue the blog. Each one made me
a little more determined to undiscontinue it.
Also known as continuing it. Phew.

I love fish, I could eat it every day but I havent tried sushi yet.

@Alex Congratulations! I can’t wait til I can say the same thing, nearly there!

You are in the right city to be more adventurous with your eating. Try Hutong dumplings in Melbourne. Or horoki or Kuni.
    They are both Japanese restaurants.
    But try Hu tong dumplings.
    Book though

Well done good sir, I tried sushi for the first time this year, it’s quite nice I think.

I’ve tried sushi before but with me not being a huge fan of rice, it was probably never going to be my favourite food.

I think you’re too much of a people pleaser to discontinue the blog completely. Even if you don’t blog every day, you’d have to blog at least once a week.

I do hope whatever pessimistic hole you were down the other day has been refilled with you outside of it. I hear live burial isn’t too fun. Just remember, Gaddafi isn’t that bad!

URGH, sushi is always raw fish. Or that yellow stuff, which is of indeterminate origin. Sushi breeds snobbery. I love good sushi, me.

    Never get bad sushi. Ever.

Tesco sells Chicken Sushi. Tesco should therefore be burnt to the ground.

I’ve handed in my dissertation. This has no relevance to anything but I really just want as many people in the world to know as possible.

To make me feel like this is comment-worthy… I like veggie sushi. Yum.

I tried sushi for the first time a couple of years ago. I actually quite liked it, although I haven’t actually had any since. Should probably try some more though.

That wasn’t a very intelligent comment, was it? Ah well, it’s the internet. pfft. Will try harder next time. ;)

Raw duck? And it was nice? That’s surprising. But well done for sticking to one of your resolutions. I’m doing terribly on the trying new foods front but once I get my house bought I shall endeavour to buy some new foods.

@Lydia – I hope you’re okay. I shall send a hearty pat on the shoulder and a “there there” through the internet. Hope things get better for you. xxx

I’m the opposite with Sushi. I used to love it but after an incident with a nasty bit of Salmon I’ve shyed away from it.

Fish related Australia Fact: I went to Oz when I was 32 a couple of years ago and until that point I had never ……I repeat never…. had fish n chips, which something for an Englishmen to admit is quite something. I was convinced to try some while in Brisbane I think and discovered I love it……..love it I tells ya.
Was strange though when I came back and told people I’d tried new foods like Kangaroo, Gator, Emu and Fish n Chips……they kept tthinking it was a joke….it wasn’t!!!!

I’ve had a really intense craving for sushi for the past few days now. Reading this had really not helped. Glad you enjoyed it, though!

I always thought it was fish too. Or rice and seaweed in the case of the vegetarian one. I’m veggie but I’ve never eaten either, they look kind of gross.

Ha, I was terrified being the first person yesterday. I was like OMGPRESSUREHEMIGHTQUITIFISAYTHEWRONGTHING. Obviously not the case, but it was still intense, lol.

I have come home to the discovery that everything I thought might be heading toward okay has now gone in the other, not okay direction, so hearing you’re not quitting is my Stop Crying And Get Over It thing of the day. Thanks (see? you can write about sushi and make someone’s life better. I stopped crying while reading this. (I mean that in a more encouragement way, not an attention seek-ey one.))
