Festen
Oh hello.
I had a good show last night and a pretty good one tonight. That makes it two wins, two draws from the four so far. Tomorrow I don’t have to perform, because Melbourne Comedy Festival – unlike Edinburgh, a notoriously vicious taskmaster – gives everyone Mondays off. But I am, instead, appearing on Adam Hills’ show (which is broadcast this coming Wednesday, Aussies and sneaky-viewers-of-foreign-TV). I’ll just be rattling on about my life and trying to appear charming.
Festival news! I’m going to be at the Hay festival at the end of May. I’m doing a standup gig on the Sunday night, then a book event on Monday. Hay is tremendous fun and you should definitely go if you have the glimmer of an opportunity. But book accommodation as it’s in the middle of absolute nowhere.
Other festival news! I’m going to do Latitude, too. This is the penultimate weekend of July. It’s one of the most enjoyable festivals, I think. You get bands. You get comedians. You get authors. And so on. Families can go. There’s a river. With any luck I will get to do a book event as well as comedy, and then I can get hammered and read bits of ‘Eleven’ and give away the whole plot and do a pissed Q and A session, like I did at last year’s Latitude.
As for Edinburgh, there will be a tiny bit of news this coming week. Not THAT exciting. But as always with this blog, not totally boring either.

I can’t go to latitude this year and now I feel like i’m missing out even more! Can you just not be as good? Or lie and say it was rubbish?

I would love to go to all of those things but know I can’t go to any of them. I blame my need for revision books eating my money.
I have realised now that exams are getting close because I have started having nightmares about failing everything. The one yesterday was about my psychology exam, which for some reason was taking place in my living room.

Only “pretty good”? From the audience’s point of view I say it was excellent! I think I might have to come again before I head home to Hobart for Easter. x
