The blog that might have been

Today I really only have time to either write a long interesting blog (even supposing I were capable of such a thing), or finalise my tour dates for the autumn. Short-term thinking suggests it would be nice to have the long blog, but if you look into your heart you’ll find you really want me to announce loads more shows in places previously suggested by you the public. So if you’ll excuse me I’ll just go and work out these dates. We’re nearly there. I think it will be done by the weekend. There are some pretty strange ones. (If any of the shows end up being really badly attended, or the venues are in any other way lacking, then it’s the fault of you the public, and it’ll be used as proof that people like Gaddafi are right and democracy doesn’t work. But hey – too late now, you’ve made your choices.)

So… yes. Before I end up rambling on, I’m going to go and stare at an XL spreadsheet. I know this might not be what you want tonight, but – as I said – this is for your own good. It’s for everybody’s good. We all need comedy. I am providing it. (Apparently there are some other stand-ups around too, but I can’t chance it that they’ll do this properly.) If this brief entry has left you with a sense of disappointment, and you also can’t take comfort from the idea of imminent tour dates because you’re somewhere abroad or don’t enjoy my comedy, then off you go and dream of the blog that might have been.

I haven’t even attempted to use a spreadsheet since I IT lessons stopped being compulsory. Good luck not going insane. x

(In reply to Cathy) I also have a ticket booked for the Oxord Glee, would be nice to say hello to you, hubby & hopefully Mark. Let the waiting begin.

You’re right, you can’t trust others to do it so if you want it doing properly you will have to do it yourself. They might make jokes about learning disabilities or something.

I’d just like to lend my support to Excel spreadsheets (that is what we’re talking about right? I’m slightly paranoid that XL spreadsheets are extra large ones). I love them. I love making graphs on them and working out my finances and even working out imaginary scenarios. Spreadsheets are cool.

I’ve just been catching up on this week’s posts and was having a look on Google for the “Elf” book when I spotted a reference to

So, to quote Mark, “if today’s brief entry has left you with a sense of disappointment”, my advice is, have a look at this rather splendid article as well!

Also, that was supposed to be a ‘clever/glasses’ smiley, not sunglasses – I really don’t think I’m cool! And now I shall stop spamming your comments.

Excel sheets drove me barmy in my last job. It got to the point where the word ‘kitchen’ just looked like a series of lines that my brain simply stopped processing.

That said I use the Google sreadsheet function voluntarily, when lists just aren’t enough 8-)

XL sheets are the bane of my existence. I’m dropping economics next year just so I don’t have to use them anymore….Nice blog though :)

    No pressure on us then!
I’m looking forward to Exeter in June – a good laugh and fun evening is something I could really do with. And hopefully by June I’ll have mastered sleeping again and that should save me.
    Happy sorting!

I am missing your comedic presence Mark. And hugs.

Urgh! XL spreadsheets, looked at those for years before I changed career, enough to drive anyone to floristry! Hubby and I already have tix for Oxford in June, looking forward to my face hurting alot as it always does when you’re stood in front of me doing your thing! x
