Two-parter
I’ve got into a bit of a rut of updating this blog very late at night (Australian time) in order to avoid the pitfall of waking up and realising the deadline has gone and the world is ruined. But this does tend to mean that my brain is normally addled from trying to write my book, and of course from the general puzzles that make up a day in anyone’s life, so there’s been a bit of a drop in blog-quality of late. I am also being held back by the fact that lots of things are hopefullyjustabouttohappen professionally – a couple of TV things, another great big fat wodge of tour dates – but since none of them is quite official yet, I’m loath to announce them and then look like Mr Silly Old Dick if they don’t happen. So I would expect the blog to become quite eventful in, say, another week or so. Oh, also I really do need to write an update of my TYSIC progress, especially I made all those New Year’s resolutions and haven’t really ‘checked in’. But I keep not quite getting round to that. Hmm. And it’s ever so late here. You really wouldn’t believe how late if I told you.
So what we’ll do, I’ll post this now, and then I’ll try to come up with something fresh to write in the morning, WHICH WILL STILL BE THE SAME DAY FOR YOU. So, yes, we could be looking at a two-blog day, although it’ll be added onto the bottom of this one as an edit. If you read this part and the second part hasn’t appeared yet, why not suggest something for me to write about. It can be anything, including something you’ve suggested before and are patiently awaiting. If nobody has any ideas though, don’t worry. I have a great view of Melbourne from here. I can always just tell you about that.
UPDATE JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT: Oops, just made it in time. But not quite in time to describe the magnificence of Melbourne – my favourite city – as it springs into life this morning. So, tomorrow’s blog: Melbourne (Its Delights). Day after (based on your requestst): how to not be as stressed and not kill anyone. Ideal. Oh, and the next dat, dreams.

I wish I was in Melbourne but maybe if i’m lucky I will dream that I am tonight.

I’m having a lot of nightmare at the moment and, maddeningly, can’t concentrate on books or music which is purely down to anaemia and very annoying. I’ll probably have to take more iron tablets – yuk!! Anyway from my Syndol induced haze today, glad things are going well for you in Australia. Tracey x

I got a new bed recently. And have definately had many more dreams since then.
I’ve had some very odd ones involving traveling to parallel worlds that were like Middle Earth-y and one was having my arms waxed. And one where I met a man and took him to the dentist. Quite enjoying them though because I was so uncomfy in my old bed that I hadn’t dreamed for ages.
I have never been to Melbourne and probably couldn’t pick it out on a map or recognise a picture of it. But I know what I think it loooks like. Very sunny and blue sky. With lots of nice tree-y walky bits. I am very probably wrong.
Anyone got good addresses in Melbourne to google street view. Then I can get to know it better.
^_^

Hurrah! I look forward to your suggestions as my rage has not subsided, even with a relatively good night’s sleep. Sigh.

I was in one of those rooms. And I won! The sense of pride was great (even if my humour wasn’t.)
I haven’t commented in ages, but I’m always reading. Excited about the prospect of new developments. Hope all’s good in sunny Melbourne…

The ‘room’ being those taking part in afore mentioned Internet Panel Show, who aren’t in a room, but are in 6 different rooms across the UK. Exciting.

I just read your blog out to the rest of the room.

A load of watsonians just made a Internet Panel Show. It’ll be a few days before it’s ready but we’d be much obliged if you gave us a bit of a plug when it is.

I’m a very proud Melbournian, but currently living in England. Although not overly homesick, I’d love to hear what things you love about Melbourne.

3 years ago in Melbourne I got banned from driving for a month without even knowing it!!. Whilst there we hired a car and drove along the great ocean road and back to Melbourne at night, then when I got back to England a few months later I found 3 speeding tickets from that drive on my doormat and with the 3rd came a months ban. The worst bit was it was my mate Emma who was driving!. I was so worried about it I rang the hire car people to apologise. Same day I parked the car outside the hostel but had to move it at 7am the next day when the parking restrictions started on the street I’d parked it on. So I combined this with taking the car back to the hire car depot. My alarm when off at 5 to 7 and I jumped out of bed got in the car and got it to the place which was a half hr walk home. It was only when I got there that I realised I still had my pj’s on.
Same trip we decided to go find the real Ramsey Street from Neighbours, we spent a couple of hours travelling to find it and when we got there the official Neighbours Ramsey Street tour bus pulled up, the first person that got off the bus was from my home town of Chesterfield!…….small world
Melbourne stories over for the day

How do I not make myself clinically obese over thed next few months? Serious question. In other words how do people relieve stress other than by comfort eating. If anyone says exercise I’ll cry. Myabe this is more appropriate for Can I Help You. Hmmm.

It’s a bit of a Mark Watson Kicks Off question but…
Which hero / famous person / sportsman was the most disappointing when you got to meet them in real life?

Anything to take me out of ‘ugh I’m totally fed up and Tuesday’s another whole sleepless night away’ sort of mood. I’m tired of not sleeping and having stressful stuff to sort out that I shouldn’t have to be doing!
Rant over, but it felt good to get it out! Thank you. Hopefully I’ll sleep later and tomorrow will show me the silver lining that everyone keeps talking about!

I like the word wodge. That’s about it for contribution today from me.
Also, I keep seeing Eleven in bookshops and libraries and stuff. I know this is completely normal and necessary for a book but it still makes me happy. Plus whenever I see them I think that yes, that copy is shiny and new, but mine is battered and SIGNED.
I looked forward to all that is hopefullyjustabouttohappen.

Remember that list of songs you put up a while ago for us to listen to? I really enjoyed those so another few song ideas would be great. x

I think you should suggest ways and means that will prevent me from committing workplace homicide.
It’s been one of those sort of days.

Oooh, I could do with a sunny Melbourne view on this dire and cloudy day.

I once asked about dreams, quite a while ago. You travel a lot – do your dreams ever change depending on where you are in the world?
(Not in a sense of dreaming upside down when you’re in Australia, mind.)
Nicest dream/oddest dream etc.
Sleep well!

Could you post a photo of your view of Melbourne? Just a thought.
Anyway, hope you get a good night’s sleep
