Won't you give me some food

So, the announcement of a cake-based project got everyone absolutely buzzing yesterday. Wow, I might as well be Josie Long the way this is going. Except she’s doing a very good job of that herself.

Cymruangel, I am giving you the job of collating the thoughts and making a nice thing out of them as seen at http://www.wordle.net/. If you could put a comment up with where you’d like them sent, I’ll publicise it. Meanwhile Tibbs has already got an email address set up to receive PICTURES OF YOUR CAKES: watsoncake@yahoo.ca. I never quite imagined there’d ever be a Canadian-registered email including my name and dedicated to pictures of cake. Perhaps I lack imagination. Anyway, this is great. Many of the people who immediately leapt up and went ‘cake! cake! I’ll make cake!’ were girls, women, females and the like, so I’m thinking of having a Best Male Cake Award as well as whatever other categories there are. Bake! Bake! No-one is safe from my floury commands.

Misha has reminded me that the Toblerone Challenge, where we send an oddly-shaped chocolate from one winner to another, is still to be resolved. Both challengers sent me their places of residence and then I failed to do anything about it because Christmas and the like got in the way. I promise to draw up a plan in the next few days to execute this soon-to-be-legendary confectionery trade. The faithful iPod Coordinators have been in touch so that’s in hand, too. And soon I am going to do a special one-off Can I Help You to encourage one of yesterday’s posters to be brave about showing off her creative writing. (I’m aware that I only ever tackled half of the last Can I Help You, back in September. Feel guilty about this. If you have a problem you posted then which is still relevant, do re-post, I will get round to it).

So yes, all in all a rather sappy feelgood blog today. I’d better balance it with some ugly, masculine images at the end. GUNS! CARS! PROBLEMS IN EGYPT!

Oh by the way I’m recording ITV’s Comedy Rocks tonight, and a pilot for Dave tomorrow. In case you’re reading this thinking ‘does he actually still do comedy, or just coordinate baffling projects involving food?’ The answer’s a bit of both.

Sorry for radio silence – was away from blog (as home computer was refusing to access it) and clearly my message didn’t get through.

Had asked for things to be sent to me via the forum, but have now set up a new email address for submissions: watsonbloganniversary@gmail.com
(which cunningly can be used in future years also if someone wants it)

Please send things to me there – I am raring to go, having only received 2 so far…

I’m glad to have brought about something beyond your imagination, even if it is just an email address. I have started to receive pictures of cakes, and have myself gone as far as obtaining a recipe for a cake that I’m not sure I’ll be able to make. I’m going to try to put them into some sort of collage / montage / thing, and I have an idea for something visual that I want to try, but it might not work out. But about the awards and such, I’m assuming it’s going to be something like where we all vote on them on the day, right? Would you like me to organise the pictures into any sort of categories?

Oh. Two days late. Strange that I didn’t see this blog when I read yesterday’s!

We no longer get Dave :( Something to do with Freeview multiplexes (multiplicies?) and we seem to have lost that one. We now have the info back for Dave in the TV Guide on the television, but we haven’t the channel itself … confusing. And annoying.

I know I’m a day late, but sappy and feelgood is a nice way to round off a great morning :) And cake is always good … I shall have to get baking!

Oh god. I have so many cake plans, I’m terribly excited. I might even bring along some samples to the Reading gig!

But baffling projects involving food are pretty much the coolest thing there is :P I’m interested in the possibility of categories within which we can enter our cakes. I already have some great ideas for it.

In response to Ingrid’s question about Twitter: It’s useful to have one so you can follow people/companies etc that announce things over twitter, but is only really fun if people you know have and use twitter frequently. Otherwise you feel a little silly tweeting things no one reads. Or at least that’s how I feel :P

I’m all in favour of these cake baked shenanigans but I can’t help but think that the opportunity to get a Royal to write a guest blog may have been overlooked.

So the deadline for international cake based celebrations is the 17th of February yes? Just checking.

As i’ve successfully used felt to make a rough image of you I may try again in icing. Though cutting into your face could be disturbing!

Who knows I will put my creative might to the problem!

    ^_^

I’m thinking cake based thoughts as well. And trying to fit it into my ever increasingly busy week next week! It would have been fab if I could have made it by Wednesday evening and brought some to the gig at Torquay, but sadly I don’t think I’ll have time. Plus Mark might have been a little worried about eating cake from a stranger – I think our parents warned us about things like that! But anyways, cake making will take place at some point in the future. Of that I am sure!

Is it sad that baking a cake is going to be the highlight of my weekend? Ah well, everyone loves cake, right?

I think you should put Baffling Food Co-Ordinator on your CV.

I am already thinking up cake based plans, having eaten a wonderful pink one just now. Mmm cake.

    The flatmates approve either way.

Im not to good at baking, but ill give it a go! If the cake fails would a pancake or something similarly easy to bake be okay?
Also if im asking questions, does anyone have any views on twitter because im wondering if i should get it?? x

‘Coordinating Baffling Projects Involving Food’ should be added to careers lists everywhere. Inspired.
