Save the date

Thanks for all your verdicts on television programmes I ought to have watched but didn’t quite. Very interesting. Hopefully we will reach a point where the Very Late Review is so super-evolved that I don’t need to watch or consume anything ever again, but have your assembled remarks piped straight into my brain so I’m fully equipped with cultural opinions I would never have been able to form for myself. This will save me a lot of time. (Ironically, this is what some people believe television itself does to us, but let’s not get into that territory.)

Oh – actually on that note – a quick word about comments. There have been some slightly heated exchanges during the ongoing, more-and-more-removed-from-the-original-point Frankie Boyle debate. I’ve censored virtually nothing, even things I strongly disagree with or don’t understand or like. But I would just like to request that where possible, commenters avoid addressing each other with jibes like ‘try to keep up’ or ‘you might not have done this at school yet, but…’ or ‘you’re not going to understand this, but…’ and so forth. A degree of respect for total strangers is not too much to ask, I think. I’m aware that people say much much much worse things to one another on the net, but, y’know. My gaff, my rules, except I really don’t like the word ‘gaff’.

Another guideline: if you’re going to use very complex words in an attempt to win the argument, don’t undermine yourself by making lots of spelling and grammatical errors at the same time. That’s not just for this blog; that’s useful advice for life in general.

Before I go, I shall just mention that I will soon be recruiting a crack team of elite Watsonians for an IMPORTANT SPECIAL CHALLENGE. It will involve being in London late night on February 28th. I’ll give you further details shortly but, as they say with weddings, save the date.

How exciting. I love a “challenge” (in theaccent of Hugh Pugh, crack Fishguard reporter. But sans corracle)
I may even be off that week anyway. Goody!

Gaff is a strange word, isn’t it? Can’t say i’m a fan myself.

I haven’t looked back at the Frankie Boyle thing for ages. I’m not such a great arguer. I’m more of a avoid the situation and never see them again type.

The date is saved. Despite the fact I already know I will never be able to afford whatever it is. Yet I am still intrigued.

Hi Mark. I really wish I could teleport to places! I’ve noted the date – not difficult as it’s also a family birthday but also to see what happens as I won’t be able to be in London then, sadly. Will await news with interest though! Tracey x

Date duly noted – since I live in West London, it would seem rude not to make myself available (it’s a Friday night, right? I’m ok as long as it’s late – ie after 8pm?)
By the way, saw you last night as an occasional talking head on the tv comedy awards nominations show. Do I get a point?

Oooh, mysterious. Date duly noted, curiosity piqued, fanciful imaginings of a squad of Watsonians in catsuits and masks stealthily making their way though misty streets commenced…

Date saved; maybe they’ll even be paying me Jobseekers’ Allowance by then so I could afford to get to London … !

    Intriguing.

    Date saved.
    Intrigue Building.
    Fell Out.

It’s at times like this I wonder if it wouldn’t be a good thing to either live anywhere where anything happens or get transport to such places.

I never do anything, so the date is as good as saved.

Ooooooh let me do it please please please? I LOVE CHALLENGES. I’ve got genuinely excited about this. I’m going to imagine the team that gets picked are a cross between the gang from Hustle and the Torchwood crew, but even sexier and wittier. And definitely all in black.

I will put the date in my diary ( which I haven’t bought yet).

    My intrigue is piqued…

    ^_^

How exciting, and after tour finishes. Date saved. Only just caught Fast and Loose by the way, like the format, not sure why all the men have to be so very tall (is it a show requirement? Are the cameras stuck on their tripods?) and Humphrey is a great choice, the Penny Dreadfuls can’t be too successful in my book.

Date noted. Interested to find out what this special challenge might be!

I decided this comment should be in the form of a Haiku. This action, formerly known as a decision, is now known as a regret.

    The Date is now saved,
Sam’s comment made me smile but
    This five not famous

Oooh! Interesting. Now need to find a way of convincing mum its a good idea to spontaneously travel from the north of scotland to london. Hmm… Well date noted anyway! :)

  19. Posted by Simone on January 15, 2011

    Noted.

  20. Posted by Sam on January 15, 2011

I have the date saved. I am hoping it is nothing too elite, as in requiring skills or something I don’t have.
I’m hoping that this will make my life into some kind of Famous Five style adventure book full of intrigue and wonder.

Damn, the 28th is the day I go back to school after half term. In my diary (i.e. my head) but will have to discuss it with mum, depending on what it is.

  22. Posted by Anna Lowman on January 15, 2011

    Woo, date saved.

  23. Posted by Misha on January 15, 2011

Late night on the 28th you say? *marks on calender* I’m sure I can find a way to be there from Wales. I mean, who needs sleep anyway?

  24. Posted by Anji on January 15, 2011

I’ll save the date, but more just to see what happens as I don’t think I could be in London on that date! But I’ll wait in wonder and see what happens.

  25. Posted by Someone on January 15, 2011

Date saved. *tumble-weed blows across diary* London is at least easiest place to get to!
