Demon day

You know sometimes you have a day where everything seems to go against you? I’ve had that sort of day. I don’t really want to go on a killing spree because I think I might sacrifice the moral high ground I’ve been occupying recently, plus there are more logistics attached to that kind of thing than one sometimes appreciates. But if I ever DID go a-killin’, it would be on a day like this.

I noticed that no less a figure than Stephen Fry has also had such a day, to judge from a tweet which simply said ‘I am so so unhappy’. Given that SF has about two million followers, I can only imagine the barrage of concerned comments that must have followed this remark. If you get to a level where you’ve got quite a few followers, Twitter offers the constant temptation to parade your emotions in exchange for some short-lived, but nonetheless very gratifying, free sympathy from strangers. I didn’t put anything on Twitter, though, and I won’t go on about it here.

Let’s just say that January 13 and I will agree to differ, and we’ll leave it there and go our separate ways. Tomorrow we’ll start afresh. I am expecting the Universe to buck its ideas up a bit.

A January 14th update. Feel much better after a good sleep and lie in, however I won’t bore you with the details, but I was meant to be going to Spain for a long weekend with my Dad. I couldn’t go, due to a series of Frank Spencer esque mishaps, injuries and problems at work. So after explaining to my (very understanding) dad that I wouldn’t be able to go and spend time with him on his birthday, I woke to find the news that he and my step mum missed the flight because no buses turned up at Luton Airports car park for over an hour and a half so by the time he got to the terminal the flight had closed!.
He also joins me in thinking that we probably were not meant to go on this trip for whatever reason, but the good news that has sprung from this is that we had a really great chat, and he’s going to help me get my CV up to date with his expertise in that field, and its created a great story to be told in the future.
Hope everyones Jan 14th is looking better than the 13th!!

P.s. January 13th was never going to be a lucky day for me as it was my parents wedding anniversary……so its out of my hands

Hi Mark. Yesterday wasn’t good for me either! For some reason, everything electrical in my house hates me. The television is playing up which I gave my poor husband grief abouit the minute he walked through the door after travelling around the Highlands of Scotland for a week! My attempts to fix the problem had scrambled my brains totally. My husband, after I’d said I hadn’t meant to give him grief, fixed the problem I’d created by trying to fix the television although the original problem still persists! I’m a bit calmer today – perhaps a change of medication is called for! Hope you and everyone here who had a bad time yesterday has a better day today. Tracey x

Well, I’m on the day after the day before and am hoping everyones days have gotten off to a much better start and continue to flourish with all things good!
One thing that will keep me going as I head into work…. Tomorrows the weekend and I don’t need to set an alarm!
Small things and all that, but sometimes they make the difference!
Happy January 14th everyone! Much better than the day before, I heard it here first!

It seems many people have had bad days. However some people have had good days. My day has been pretty awful. It’s been one of the worst days I’ve had in weeks. I won’t bore with details. I’m all written out on the subject of bad days. Something about January 13th is not kind. Tomorrow will be better.

I’m glad you didn’t go a-killing :P Hope that the rest of the week makes up for your shit day. I find that this often happens to me – one bad day to balance out an otherwise good week.

Now, I’m definitely not saying this will happen (In fact, I’ll go so far it definitely won’t happen) but I just had the terrible image that in 8 months time someone who may or may not Stephen Fry reads this blog and starts handing out “cunt”s willy-nilly.

Maybe my pessimistic state of mind is due to January the 13th being an objectively bad day.

I wouldn’t put it past it.
    The bastard.

I hate it when my day’s going terrible and someone else says “mine’s just fine” so I won’t say it. But, you know, things will get better I’m sure, get a good night sleep and who knows maybe you wake up and find you’ve more followers than Stephen Fry!!!

My friend had a rubbish day, and I’ve spent the day in pain and feeling ill. Good riddance to January 13th!

    *hugs all round*

It seems a worrying number of people have had a bad day today, I however cannot claim this as my day has been incredibly productive. Hope you all have as good a day as I have had today, tomorrow. :)

Shame you (and so many other people, it seems) have been having such a rubbish day! My day’s actually been pretty good (if a bit nerve-wracking) so far, although it could still take a turn for the worst in a specific way, but hopefully that doesn’t happen, and hopefully tomorrow is aces for everyone!

*call today A write-off. Apparently I couldn’t see my typos through the red mist.

I’ve had an awful day too. I’ve dealt with it by starting an argument with anyone who’ll listen, so now I still feel shit and nobody in my house is talking to me. Hmm.

At least I’m in good company. Perhaps everyone should just go to bed now, call today and write-off and sort things out tomorrow. Till then, have you heard Chris Addison’s angry collaborative Spotify playlist? Some contributers have missed the point a bit, but I think it’s helping: http://open.spotify.com/user/thriftyways/playlist/4ouORU74AnCGxdNnClnrG1

Sorry to hear about your bad day! I have had a rubbish day as well. I’ve got flu, I failed part of my AS Chemistry, and I was busy with various rubbish things for almost eleven hours.
Booo to January 13, hopefully tomorrow will be wonderful for everyone to compensate :)

I had an everything going against me day once (literally about 6 really shit things happened) and was having a whinge to a friend.

He said ‘at least all those shit things only ruined one day rather than each ruining a day of their own.’

    It helped.
Hope everyone’s days get better tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your day, but I feel exactly the same today. Stressful day at work, unreasonable boss, heavy workload, car buggered, meant to be going to Spain for the weekend but because of a little bit of all the previously mentioned things….I dont think its going to happen.

Want to go to sleep and wake up on a much happier day!!

    Night

I concur on this day. It’s been somewhat rubbish.
