Post-tester euphoria

Wow, looks like it DID work. That would be awesome, if my phone’s back to form. It would greatly reduce the dark prospect of the Blogless Day. There was a fear for a while that this would be the day, as I’m away from my computer and loath to disturb the Emergency Bloggers.

News:

Does anyone want to adopt a dog? A friend of mine is looking for a home for one.
Joyously, both Toblerone winners came forward yesterday. And sound like they’ll get on famously. Rhian and Sephy, I now need to know (roughly) where you live.
Awful troubles in the cricket last night.
Must go. But this is better than nothing.

Glad to hear the Toblerone has a home to go to, even if the dog’s still waiting to be allocated.

Hi Mark. I do hope the dog finds a new home. My Springer spaniel is fourteen now and wouldn’t take kindly to any new additions. Also, my husband who has indulged me with two dogs in twenty years doesn’t really want anymore. Don’t get me wrong, he ‘s fond of animals but not as daft about them as me.We’ve also just discovered that our second hamster may not have long to go.Anyway I can’t comment re’ cricket as I don’ tfollow it being a tennis addict. , I really hope the dog gets a loving new home – please keep us posted. Have a great weekend Mark and a great weekend to everyone else who posts here. Tracey x

What kind of dog, Mark?Been thinking of getting a dog ever since mine died 5 years ago. Problem is I’ve had an alergy for at least the past two years. I get full on athsma symptoms when around most sorts of dog. Wife doesn’t like poodles so looks like I’d need one of those poodle crosses. I’ve always fancied the idea of some kind of mongrel ‘cos I believe they tend to be healthier and live longer. I walk miles and live near next to countryside/canal walks; anything under 5 miles just counts as a stroll. A couple of weeks ago I walked 28 miles in a 24 hour period; just to be able to say I’d done a marathon! Got 5 grandchildren, so any new dog would need to be good around children. Main thing, apart from the athsma thingy, which has put me off getting a new dog, is I don’t really want a puppy wot would eat all our furniture. There you go then. I doubt very much if your friend’s dog fits those criteria but I thought I’d get in touch; just in case. Although I wrote a couple of posts about 6 months ago; I haven’t written lately ‘cos I invariably read your blog in the early hours of the morning but this time (2am!) I just couldn’t resist. I’d gladly pay your friend the going rate; to prove I’m not one of those lurkers; just lurking around to get a free dog (bit of a long shot that would be!). I know you’re interested in the demographics of your ‘audience’ so I’ll just mention that I’m nearly 63 (going on 18); planning on living until at least 100, what with all the exercise and that. Best get back to my beauty sleep now I’ve made a pitch for your mates dog. Phil.

Excellent news about your renewed blogging-by-phone capabilities! Sorry to hear about the cricket, although I can’t say I understand the game in the slightest.

Hope the dog finds a new home!

    Sheffield.

Isn’t it a bit chilly for cricket?

I don’t get cricket, it seems like it is only ever England vs. Australia. Do any of the other countries have cricket teams?

(not that they weren’t awesome together as it was! I’m going to go back and watch through repeatedly, am sure, coz of the life I lead. But the scope! That’s what i’m sayin’. Scope.)

Just caught end of nmtb with your two mates, Minchin and Key. Can’t help but think how good it would’ve been if you’d also been there, at the third corner. I hope 3rd series mwmtwsb is still in pipes! I’m still working on becoming BBC commisioner so these absences don’t so much exist in future. Lovely.

Very sad about the cricket :( But we will see, you never know. England have had their ups and downs before.

Just wanted to say, Mark, really enjoyed the show last night. Had a chance to say hello briefly at the book signing afterwards. Hopefully that won’t be the last time! :)

Aha – it was you on the phone all along!!!

I second Misha’s “Hurrah for the blog!”

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Rhian and Sephy live in the same town/city??? They could have a joint Toblerone ceremony/party … Just a thought … Many congrats to both, btw … their different and separate achievements seem to be getting lost in logistics …!!! Very, very well done … to both of you …

While I still have my own lovely dog, I couldn’t consider having another but do hope a wonderful new home can be found for your friend’s dog …

Dozed off when we were kinda going along sorta OK at the Gabba … couldn’t believe what I woke to hear some hours later … bloody Aussies!!! Just because it’s the guy’s birthday is NO reason to gift him a bloody HAT TRICK, for heavens sake!!!

Just as well they’re not all that good at the moment … dread to think what it would be like if they were on top of their game right now!!!!!!!!!!! But, no worries, she’ll be right, mate … this time tomorrow we’ll be right on top!!! ….. I hope ………….

Even more, I DO hope the weather warms up a little … I have plans to travel over the w/e to a very important event (or two!) on Monday which I can’t bear the thought of missing after SO many trials and tribulations getting this far …!!! Plea to all lurkers … do your best for me … PLEASE … I’d be EXTREMELY grateful for any teeny amount of global warming you can organise (temporary, of course!!!) until Tuesday evening … thank you!!!

Or perhaps that’s a request/selfish wish too far …??? If so … please forgive me …

    Hurrah for the blog!
Much though i’d love a dog I don’t think it’d go down too well with halls sadly.

What sort of a dog? How old and is it the dogs fault she needs a new home?
I have a heart for animals in need – also I’m probably miles away and that wouldn’t help my argument for another dog to my OH. Who didn’t want the dog we now have – which I remind him of everytime he says no.
I hope that the little doggie does find a new home, I can’t promise I can help, but I will ask and hope something suitable comes up!
It’s my birthday on Sunday, I’ll throw that into the pot if it helps a doggie find a home!

Yey for phone working! Boo for the cricket – not that I understand the fist thing about it!
