Be honourable!

I’ve no time to blog today, but that does not, of course, mean this has to be the Blogless Day. Almost everyone, in the Predict the Future game, swore blind there would be no Blogless Day and I don’t mean to let those people down.

So: just a note to say, keep nominating thankless professions for the surprise kindness awards (see yesterday’s blog), but also, if you think you are in a position to actually present someone with one of these awards – someone you know in one of the nominated jobs, whom you’re likely to see on November 13th – please start thinking about it. What kind thing might you be able to do for them?

I am getting on a train at 9 tomorrow morning and I will then start planning this. So either leave a Comment now signalling your intent to give someone a prize, or be ready to do so in the morning. Tomorrow, some serious planning will need to get done.

The title of this blog is in honour of my friend and colleague Josie Long, who was involved in a car accident this week. Thank the lord, she is OK. But still. Her message still lives on, even though she’s not dead.

I think that someone suggested that people who work with children who have learning disabilities should be rewarded, my best friends mum does that so i could probably do something nice for her, I’m not sure what though!

Hi Mark. Glad to hear Josie is ok. I don’t think I’m actually going to see my postman tomorrow but I will keep all of this in mind and will see if I can do something at some point although as I said yesterday, sadly, they’re not encouraged to spend much time chatting with the recipients of mail these days. Hope you have a great weekend. Take care, Tracey x

Sadly, I don’t think I’m going to see any of the nominated people on Saturday, but if there’s anything I can do like sending some emails or even something like making some cards to send to people on another day (not ideal, I realise) then just let me know.

I haven’t yet been lucky enough to see Josie Long live but I listen to Utter Shambles which is such a good podcast and only today put her DVD on my Christmas list, I think she’s really funny and inspiring. So glad she’s okay x

I could make use of my saturday by giving someone a prize. It could be tricky but I’d have a go.

Oh noes!! The world would be a lot colder and more cynical place without the joy ray that is Ms Long. So glad I don’t have to face that world just yet.

Didn’t know about Josie either. glad she’s okay. I’ve kind of adopted her ‘be honorable’ motto as my own.
If nurses or doctors win i can do some stuff at work. Think i could give some presents from watsonians around and confuse everyone ha. I’d try to do way more than my fair share of work too.

Oh god, I had no idea about Josie Long! Thank goodness all is ok. I went to see her show in Bristol a couple of weeks ago (a week after yours – it was a fortnight of optimism and amusement) and she was incredible. I left wishing she were my friend. And hungry for porridge.

I need to have a think about my kindness award nomination…

Poor Josie. I was half planning to see her tonight. Instead, i’m collapsed on the sofa. Alas I don’t think I can give anyone a present. Unless it’s a doctor/nurse, because it looks like that’swhere i’m going tomorrow.
