We welcome your feedback

All sorts of highly entertaining predictions yesterday. If you haven’t yet, I strongly recommend posting your guesses as to the future direction of our species, after yesterday’s blog. You don’t have to be 100 percent right about every aspect of what lies ahead. It’s fun just trying, I think.

I was just on Twitter on my way back from the North-East (today I saw my improving team win 2-1 at Middlesbrough, thanks very much if you crossed your fingers) and noted that I’d seen the following rather poignant writing on a sandwich packet: ‘we’d love to hear what you think of our new range of sandwiches. Email sandwichtalk@eastcoast.co.uk’. Rather patronisingly I speculated that the person reading these emails can’t be having a lot of fun. Quite a number of people decided, as a result, to send a pleasant email to this address.

I guess the image of a poor lackey opening the inbox (password: chickenandbacon) and scanning hopefully for feedback is a naive one. Someone will glance at it briefly as part of a suite of other more weighty duties. Still, I like the idea of sending appreciative emails to this little-used feedback point. The sandwich I had was pretty nice, and in general the staff on these trains (East Coast) do a good job, and, hey, it’s a recession and everyone needs cheering up.

So as a fun and rewarding thing to do over the weekend, why not send an email either to this address, or to one of other numerous emails you see on packets and cartons and bottles asking you to ‘let us know what you think’. It might be a trivial act, but it’ll give someone a nice surprise. And that has to be better than a kick in the knees. Quite a lot better.

Enjoyed this blog? We love to hear your feedback.

The sandwich people sent back my e mail because it had “innapropriate content”. All I said was they were really good sandwiches.

Mark, may I say I enjoy your blog terribly. Although I have been a faceless visitor to the site, I’d like you to know I’ve been lurking in the shadows like for the past few months. See Mark, I stumbled upon this little treat (whilst looking to see if you had an Irish tour dates) back in April or May and since then it’s brightened up my day everyday. Working on mandatory internship in an IT call center, albeit glamorous, still needed that extra something that your blog has so wonderfully provided. Since food analogies seem to be the theme today, your blog was like having pancakes delivered to my desk each morning….and I like pancakes.

So now I’m coming to ask you to help whip me up something. As a uni student studying Marketing it has been asked of me to create a blog for a final year project…this project is worth quiet a few precious marks of my final grade. However as I’m suffering ‘shit person syndrome’ that is, not being able to attract visitors to my blog/generally failing at life I’m asking you; how do you do it/can you help/ trust me if you knew me, you’d see how pathetic my attempts are. So yes, if there is anything you could suggest to increase comments (so far I’ve a grand total of one) and/or shamelessly lead your people to my site, I’d be ridiculously grateful.

I did and do enjoy this blog; fresh and delicious. Should you ever able to offer it on a choice of breads, that would make the experience even more worthwhile.

(It’s surprisingly hard to compliment the BBC. They do have a form for you to do that, but it’s incredibly hard to find compared to the complaint version. You’d think they don’t like to hear nice things.)

I love your blog. Even when I don’t have time to check anything else I always try and check this, because it is my favourite of the things I read online.

I will go and e mail the sandwich people in a moment.

    Hope you’re having a good day x

Hi Mark. I love reading your blog, as I’ve said previously, it always cheers me up. I’ve got a headache at the moment so will have to give the predictions part a miss as my brain is not functioning too well at the moment. However, regading the e-mails to product research I have occasionally filled the odd questionaire in if I’ve bought something from a company and they send me an e-mail asking for comments. It does help them presumably, so on occasion, I will do it. Take care, Tracey x

I always enjoy your blogs. I usually read them first thing in the morning to start my day well. Thank you, and long may it continue (nine and a half years in fact).

I love how this blog encourages communal efforts to improve the world in little ways. It’s lovely.

This blog was light-hearted and very cheery, just the way I like it to be as it always makes my day, so thanks :)

I saw a sign attached to the back of a horse & carriage in Blackpool on Wednesday saying ”How am I driving?” – I really wish I’d had something to say to them now as although I paid no attention to the driving…it was one of the highlights of the ”trip to see the lights”.

Glad keeping my fingers crossed for your team helped although my friend, who is a ‘Boro fan won’t thank me for it :)

The other week I spoke to a lovely lady at Scottish Power who was very helpful and solved my problem whilst also sympathising over my day where everything thus far had gone wrong. So I decided to go on their website and leave some nice feedback but low and behold their contact page only had a complaint form, so I gave up.

Therefore, I will make it my mission this weekend to go back and write something nice on their complaint form to cheer up someone’s Monday morning.
