I am now on an aeroplane preparing to fly home. Thought I had better blog just in case some air delay catastrophe causes me to miss September 24 altogether. I’ve come too far with this blog for the International Date Line to cheat me.
The flight preparations are going well; I’ve just knocked over a glass of champagne which doused the woman next to me, and her belongings. Ideal. Oh well. It’s not like we’re sitting together for 22 hours or anything.
Ought to turn this off really. Will try to blog from Singapore. But let’s see if I can get this one online, despite the captain’s selfish insistence on getting us into the air as soon as possible. Then we can all relax. Wheeeeee! I like flying. Luckily. See you soon.

I hate flying but I think I could like it if the food was nicer and I could afford to go on good planes with films and room to put your legs.

I flew on Friday and about 5 minutes after takeoff, the stewardess came round to double check we had lifejackets.

I love flying to, exept the bit when your going down and it feels like your ears are going to explode! Apparently not everyone gets that though… Anyway have a good flight! x

Don’t worry, Lydia, there will be plenty of time for you to experience the pleasure of air travel. I was 20 before I flew for the first time, but since then I have been making up for lost time;earlier this year I was on 8 planes in the span of a month!
Take off and landing are the best parts of flying, lisan66! Although I admit I might be slightly odd when it comes to these things, since I also kind of enjoy a bit of turbulence now and then.
Oh and Mark, if you’re open to suggestions for themes for upcoming music recommendations, I am always on the lookout for ideas for road trip music!

Hey Mark
really appreciate you thinking of your blog even during air travel. I have to thank you for your blog as I study French at college and we were discussing blogs. I was the only student in the class who had ever read one, yours! Thankyou for helping me write that French essay by giving me something to write about
also thankyou for this blog, i love it and it gains me credit in French
travel safe x

Flying is terrible. Don’t know how people can like it. Actually, that’s a lie. I don’t mind flying, I just hate the landing bit. I wish they could just let us all jump from the plane at about 8 foot off the ground…

I too quite enjoy flying. I’m bloody terrified of airports though. I flew on my own for the first time when I went to Portugal this summer and the thought of going through airport security petrified me. But I’d only had half an hour of sleep the night before which probably increased the scariness. The whole of that day was very surreal actually. But the plane was fine! I read Sherlock Holmes for half of the journey and Eleven for the other half. Loved them both! Ah I’d better stop reminiscing about my travels now because I don’t think it’s very interesting to anyone else. Sorry. Have a lovely flight!

I’ve never been on an aeroplane. Or abroad. Hopefully I’ll do it before I’m twenty. Enjoy your flight x

I find it odd that you like flying despite your many other phobias and fears, when flying is often a common fear for reasons that people aren’t meant to be encased in metal hurtling through the sky at a hundred odd miles an hour.
You are a fascinating man, and by that I mean insights into your mind fascinate me, is it that you like the fact you’re going somewhere you like, say Australia or home, rather than the actual flight?
Although there is something nice about travelling, I love train travel, it’s like a little microcosmic look at society, is this what you like about flying?
Is it that you finally get to stick it to that smug git gravity? What with it’s whole holding us to the ground and keeping us an appropriate distance from the sun, wanker.
Anyway it would be nice to know, this is my first comment in quite a while, feels nice to be back, like visiting a friend I hadn’t seen in a while, sitting down, watching Countdown and having a cup of tea. Lovely.

Spilling champagne on the woman beside you? A 22-hour flight together? This has all the hallmarks of a rom-com in the making.

Yay! You are coming home. Time travel in the down under confuses me. I don’t know how the Doctor keeps it all straight. C x

Wishing you a safe flight home Mark. Hope you were given more champers! Tracey x

I had a PROPer weird dream about me and my mum and a mate driving to this big ol’ place to see you, Mark Watson, do a gig but it was all rather complicated and when we got there it was just like 10 of us (I’m gonna say blog readers) in a room with a fire and armchairs and Mark just handing out newspapers to discuss. It was really extremely weird. I just thought I should say, because this is cleary unhealthy.
Anyway. Safe flight!

I KNEW it!
