Come pick me up, I've landed

I’m here. Well done on all your helping. I myself helped someone find the airport lounge at Hong Kong. I also helped at the airport when a little girl ran away from her dad and came towards me. I picked her up and generally looked after her until her father materialised.

I’ve also been hard at work on the new Can I Help You, but it’s not quite finished, so that’s something to look forward to. Probably tomorrow.

To clarify, I will still be blogging once a day in English time. Otherwise we might end up with a date which doesn’t have a blog attached. And that would end the sequence as far as I’m concerned.

The taxi driver who picked me up at Melbourne Airport was a big fan of cars. He asked me how well Honda was doing in Europe. He then solicited my views on the new Honda Civic versus the new Volkswagen Golf. I didn’t like to tell him that I can barely differentiate between a Mini and a submarine so I feigned interest and came down on the side of the Civic.

I’d better go to bed, because I’ve only slept 3 hours out of the last 36 or so. I did get a lot of writing done on the plane, though, and I am jubilant to be here in my natural home. Tomorrow normal blogging will resume. G’night.

I managed to fix my internet temporarily, which helped my mum get work done. Not exactly world changing, but it helped her de-stress a bit.

I hope you got some sleep. x

My Mum has a Honda Civic. She would be very pleased if I told her you (unknowingly) picked it as the better car. Bonus points for Watson in Mrs. Prior’s book!

Glad to hear you got in safely. I’m afraid the only help I had any part in yesterday was to do the dishes at my aunt and uncle’s cabin, which was really only polite after they made us a lovely meal, but is the sort of thing I might not have thought to do on my own. Well, and I suppose offering to go out in the canoe with my dad when I sort of didn’t want to could be seen as helpful, although in the end I did have quite a nice time, so really I was helping myself. Does that count?

I didn’t help anyone yesterday, but today I took care of my friend’s dog while he was out of town. I even got up to go feed him despite being ridiculously hung over. I hope I’m forgiven.

Glad you made it alright! I was wondering how you were going to manage the time difference in relation to the blog and am pleased with your solution :P

Love the title- Ben Folds is fantastic. Can’t wait for the new album!

Have fun in Australia- any chance you’ll be back sort of March/April time? I’m going there for a bit as part of my accidental gap year and I’m already seeing Minchin, would be nice if you could pop over too, if it’s not too much to ask… MICF maybe? :D

Mark, I read your blog every day but don’t usually comment, however, I read eleven today. I couldn’t put it down, I spent 3 hours in the bath and ended up prune like, but it was worth it. I loved it. Can’t wait to read the next one. Glad you are safe and sound in aus. Have fun!

Well done on all the writing (I think at this point it is safe to assume you haven’t just written aload of tripe).

Is the title of the blog a Ben Folds reference? Glad you got there okay. Have fun downunder. Cathy x

Most pleased to hear you’ve landed safely. I don’t know that I could fly to Aus all in one go because flying for any length of time usually leads to migraines. Real ones where the last place you want to be is anywhere near anyone.
    I digress (as per usual).

    I don’t like people today.

    (I’m kidding.)

I hired someone yesterday and, since we’re still short-staffed, offered to take a (chump) shift from someone whose university class schedule had changed. Yep, I will be serving soda to the masses and, possibly, cleaning a popcorn kettle on Tuesday night. HUGE sacrifice, people. :)

Glad to hear you made it there safely! And I’d have to come clean about the fact I know nothing about cars… though I did have an interesting conversation earlier about why we only have black tyres. Why can’t they make them in exciting colours to match or contrast to the car? That’s about the level I can manage!

    Goodnight, sleep well! x

    Haha: ‘mini and a submarine’.
    Glad the book’s coming along!

    Sleep well!

(the new golf is definitely better than the civic, in case you somehow find yourself sucked into the same discussion at some point in the future)
