Waterblog

Many of you, like me, are- it turns out- blissfully oblivious to much of the celebrity world, so nobody was able to guess the subjects of last night’s A-list anecdotes, which come via me straight from my famous temporary colleague A. Chung. The answers were (a) Kanye West: points go to Anji who guessed ‘a rapper dude’ was involved. And (b) Lady Gaga. Who, if you really are in the dark when it comes to stars, is the weird one with weird eyes. Who tries to be like Madonna.

That’s more than enough about ‘celebs’
I think.

I believe I’m on Would I Lie To You at present: some of you might recall a lie-based game we played ages ago when it was recorded. I can’t watch the show or even get on Twitter to follow it (either Tweetdeck is broken, or at least, my version is) so if you saw it, do report back.

I’m also on Comedy Central later, since you ask. In a Comedy Store Live-type show. It was my first gig after KW was born and I stumbled through it like someone newly released from jail.

I’m in the bath, by the way, so I’ll have to wrap this up. I’ll do something better tomorrow. Blog-wise, that is. No apologies for the bath.

I really, really enjoyed WILTY! It was clean and everyone was funny – and you had plenty of screen time :D Hurrah! Lee Mack was on fire too, I thought. (I’m also quite proud that I guessed correctly about Molly quite quickly. The Connect 4 I wasn’t so sure about but it was amusing!)

When Weeny Dancers was shown the first time round on BBCFour, I didn’t really know who you were and only half-watched it (though enjoyed what I saw) – I’m going to go and iPlayer it and properly appreciate it this time :)

You were brilliant on Would I Lie To You as so many have said…

Personal favourite part was when David told the story about him having a special way of communicating with Captian Kirk from Star Trek, and you straight away said ‘True, on we go’ Haha

    Pure Genius

You were really good on WILTY (I had to go through it an embarassing amount of times in my head to get that acronym. I know I could have just scrolled up to check, but it seemed like a massive effort) I liked the connect 4 thing. I never realised you were that competitive, lol.

I didn’t like Lady Gaga anyway. Urgh, I can’t stand people that think they are superior.

I hope you enjoyed your bath.

I thought you were brilliant on WILTY, particularly liked the connect 4 bit. I do like that show, I hope you had a good time doing it. Am also intrigued as to what David Mitchell is like – I’m not too sure why, but, there’s no use denying it, I would be interested to find out. Oh and I know you’ve been very busy so maybe you haven’t seen the adverts for Derren Brown – he is doing a live show called ‘Hero at 30,000 feet’ on Wednesday. You probably are aware of this, but I know like him (as do I) so I thought I’d say just in case you didn’t know.

You were excellent on WILTY. The story about Connect 4 was simply brilliant and I knew right away that it was true. :P

Lee Mack was on excellent form as well this week. His joke about the exorcists coming back to “repossess your house” was genius. xD

I should have been wise enough to have the forethought not to read the comments when I was planning to watch WILTY on demand later. :-) If I had someone to watch it with, I would at least have surprised them with my certainty.

Darn, I was so looking forward to WILTY this week more than usual coz you tweeted you were on it… and then I go and missed half of it coz forgot to change channel! Shameful. I shall definitely I-player it though, and the bit I saw, you were of course great.
I too’d like to know what David Mitchell’s like :]. I think he’s brilliant.. so i hope he is! And Lee Mack too? I’m sure Brydon’s nice – he surely couldn’t not be, surely. But yes. I get far too hooked on tv personalities. – Well comedic personalities mainly. I take it as writ that most other people are douches, for want of a better word.
God I must stop rambling on. It’s just that ridiculous time of day, is all.

I think I might be in the minority here, but I adore Lady Gaga. I think people are hard on her because she wears and says daft things but she also writes her own music and has the best singing voice I’ve ever heard live. And that she can do all that whilst wearing a sparkly lobster on her head makes her one of my favourite people on the planet…

    xx

Blogging from the bath eh, whilst appearing on the telly? Decadent and a bit spooky. :)

Try uninstalling and then re-installing TweetDeck – almost as good as the switch it off then back on again advice but usually works.

DAMN! I was going to say Lady Gaga but then remembered a newspaper interview I read that portrayed her as very very friendly and almost-normal.
And Kanye really is off the planet.

There’s a spider in my bath. A big, massive huge one. Field spider. The last time this happened I washed in the sink. And probably flashed people.

Sorry, I don’t know why I wrote that, I’ve been out, and had a drink or three.
WILTY can wait for tomorrow’s viewing pleasure I think. Or is that later today?

You were good on WILTY, definitely the funniest there (which is rare for it to be anyone other that David Mitchell in a show he is in) it’s just a shame you had to share screen space with Patrick Kielty.

Lady Gaga seems sweet in some interviews and on the brink of a complete mental breakdown in others. Her interview with Jonathan Ross a while ago was painful, she just seemed so nervous and defensive. Shame though; she sort of sells herself as a weirdo who made it, someone for the misfits to relate to, so it’s unfortunate if she’s actually an uppity bitch. The Kanye anecdote doesn’t even slightly surprise me.

Enjoyed ‘Would I Lie To You?’ a lot. ‘Arsenic And Old Mice’ is inspired – I believed you as soon as you said the title and would quite like to see that play! Also, the connect 4 story was adorable and sounded familiar. At the risk of turning this blog into Heat magazine (sorry), please indulge me just this once: is David Mitchell nice? As a failing comedy sketch writer sort, I love him a bit and don’t really want him to be a horrific bastard. It’s always a bit tragic to find out that a hero isn’t all you’d hoped; I do feel sorry for the Gaga diehards.

    Happy bathing!

*real, not realy, or really. I should learn to proofread things I write at midnight.

Words can’t describe how funny you are…but I guess they have!!!!! =P I only started reading the blog recently but already I’m hooked and look forward to reading it every day!! XD And I love the fact your writing this in the bath haha, but I don’t mind really, as long as I have this to read!! And I saw you on ‘WILTY’ I can’t be asked to write the full name no matter how dodgy the short sounds…actually this whole speech is longer…but anyways my favourite bit had to be about the will and connect 4…I’m not sure I even knew what a will was when I was 6!!!
Also…random to the above situation but kinda not generally random…anywhos I saw you on I think it was the comedy roadshow??? And you were talking about random temptations to do random things i.e – kick the man in front of you or throw your keys over the edge…I can completely relate to that!!!! And then you think about all the consequences but just do it anyway…strange times
But anywhos…please do enjoy your bath and are you going on tour any time soon???? =)

I would not have guessed Kanye West, but that does sound like Lady Gaga, from the little I know of her.

Look forward to seeing you on WILTY; I’d forgotten that show’d started up again!

It was a realy dilemma for me earlier: to continue reading Eleven or to stop and watch WILTY. I decided to watch it. It was very good.

But the book is on another level of goodness altogether.

  18. Posted by Ally on September 3, 2010

I shall have to find some possibly not quite legal way to watch WILTY. I hope you can forgive me :P They’re showing a promo here in Australia for some British comedy roadshow thing, possibly the same one that you mentioned. I saw you in the ad and got all excited. My family thinks I’m odd :P

You were wonderful on Would I Lie To You, my whole family ‘awww’ed when Rob Brydon teased you, it was lovely. And it was good to see you on the Edinburgh programme last night. It’s nice having you on telly at least once a day, I’ll check Dave and see if you’re on anything tomorrow. xx

Hello! I watched WILTY and very much enjoyed it but, somewhat of a first, my Mum – as she got up to leave the living room – decided to actually sit down on the floor next to me and watch the show. She laughed a lot at your jokes. It was all very nice.

I also marveled at another lovely t-shirt. I mean it really is a very nice t-shirt collection you have.

  21. Posted by Dan on September 3, 2010

I thought you were really good on Would I Lie to You, very funny.Guessed about the play though because of knowing you write (reading Eleven at the moment, will let you know what I thought when I finish).

Oh, and I dreamt I met you so does that get me any points for Where’s Watson? Maybe a special dream point?

WILTY was very good, I’m glad lily allen wasn’t there. Connect 4 is one of the worst things to lose at because it always seems like you should have won and its so easy and yet sometimes so hard. Also, very much enjoyed seeing you on the Edinburgh live thing on bbc3 last night.

  23. Posted by Kate B on September 3, 2010

I just watched Would I Lie To You. It was brillaint! Probably my favorite episode. Loved hearing about your competitiveness at connect four.
    Enjoy your bath!

I love the fact that you’re blogging in the bath. This goes to show everything that is right with modern technology.

You’re coming across extremely well on WILTY, I’ve seen enough episodes to know that it can be a bit hit and miss for the guests. (For the record – Arsenic and Old Mice – GENIUS.)

    Roll on Comedy Central later.

Ha! That has made me smile Mr West is a bit of a ladies man it would seem!
This comes at the end of a painful day where I now have a tapped shoulder trying to be kept in a better position and after having a needle stuck in my ‘pecs muscle’, or something to release it. So thanks!
Also Mark, my boss and I were talking about
Comedians and he said he saw a bloke a while back who was great. And after describing this person and saying he had a welsh accent – I ignored this bit – i said sounds like Mark Watson – my boss agreed it was indeed you. He thought you were brilliant. I then told him about your tour and he said he’d be looking at tickets
Over the weekend. If I now end up sitting next to him at Torquay I may not feel so happy but I felt pleased with the story. He did tell me where he saw you but I’ve forgotten that bit now!
Ramble over with! Hope the bath was good!

Baths are shameful; you should actually apologise. But still, you’re on the telly. So enjoy the bathing.
