You're hot and you're cold

It was all right. It started half an hour late because one of the shows on before me is a bloody musical or something and they have a set with bathtubs. (If that sounds odd, bear in mind that I’m sharing a dressing room with Simon Callow.) This didn’t make the audience drunk and restless, as you might imagine, because they were pretty much all perfectly lovely. But there was a slight sense that people were, quite reasonably, thinking ‘how long is this going on for? I’ve got to get a bus home and go to work at 6am’. So … it was OK.
And tonight- I’ve just got to the venue and guess what, a fire alarm. 25 minutes delay. Ideal.
Hmm.
Also, I feel a bit dicey. Hot and cold, shivering, etc.
As I say, hmm.
I’d better go. I hope I get through this.

Oh no. This is not the time to get ill! Optimism conquers all, all the shows will be amazing and you will feel great for the rest of the year, at least.

I was pointed in the direction of the juice of a lime and a load of honey topped up with boiling water. Does the job nicely if you feel a bit ropey. Less scary crap in it than stuff like Lemsip, too.
I, for one, was quite glad that some of your blogs were a bit on the short side as I had a ton to reas after getting back from my hols.
Hope your show went well last night. And continues to go well, obviously.

How does dicey rate on the scientific scale of 1 to Peaky?

Good show, sir. Good show. Sadly couldn’t hang around after cos my friends were pushing me towards the pub. Apparently, pear cider seemed like a really good idea. No idea why…
Also, I concur with the suggestion of soup. Soup is the cure for every known ill. Get better. x

Get as much Beechems Hot Lemon down you as the instructions allow. Should do the trick!

We both thought you were great, we were kinda pissed off waiting outside but at least it was dry and you cheered us all up, looking forward to seeing you again at one of your live tour shows, cheers

Simon Callow? That’s so cool… He smiled at me once. It was a good moment.
Hope you’re feeling better.

The show was brilliant last night!
Sorry if I came off as a bit of an idiot, my mum threatened to leave without me if I wasn’t quick, and I’ve got a bad habit of forgetting how to talk when meeting someone I admire (when I was 7 I met H from Steps and I actually forgot my own name).
x
It was lovely meeting you afterwards, thanks so much for the picture and signing my book
Hope you feel better soon

Whiskey and night-nurse should get you to sleep where you should stay for about 12 hours then whip out the paracetamol/ibuprofen. Return to the whiskey before gig to feel tip top. Resting is the best remedy for everything (says the lazy student).
If that fails red bull can solve all kinds of problems. I should be a doctor.
Anyway I’m sure the audience loved it, people just kind of accept that there are some really inconvenient things in life like fire drills and musicals both of which can give a splitting headache to hard working peoples such as yourself. You get glowing reviews in these kinda things.

Oh no, I hate when that happens! It might go off, but still it’s best to dose yourself up – take vitamin C (actually go for multivitamin supplements) and at have some paracetamol and/or Lemsips on standby – although bear in mind that if you do get a cold or flu, you can’t take the last two together at the same time (same with night/day nurse and others containing paracetamol). Most importantly though, get as much rest as you can.
Hope you feel better soon Mark!

Oh no! I hope you feel better soon. I write this from Birmingham Bus station where I’m at last reading Eleven. It’s good.

I hate that feeling when you fell something coming on……just act like a train and press on…..ignore the wretched thing!…….or hot whiskey is another perfect remedy

I really hope that your poorliness is extremely temporary.

Oh my god! Simon Callow! Did you tell him he has to be Charles in your book?

Do they have Nyquil in UK? Warning: it will make you sleepy. You will be fine. I am optimistic.

You can and WILL get through it. Optimism and all that. x

Mark, take lots of vitamin C, eat lots of spinach, and rest when you can.
Other than that, just try to enjoy it, sure you are brilliant!!
Take care x

You’ll get through it. Dose yourself up (I second the Metatone suggestion) and don’t worry too much. I wish I were there – I’d visit you after a show with Lemsip and encouraging words! xxxx

Zoe works in Boots. Listen to her. She knows lots about everything. Trust me. And please, for the love of all that’s good in this world, don’t get ill. That would be horrible. Get some soup in you. Soup is absolutely magic for everything.
Take care – try and chill out, at least for a little while. Have a good sleep tonight. Don’t keel over, etc.

Heck.
Don’t overstretch yourself Mark, the last thing we want is you getting ill. Honestly – just take it easy. Get lots of rest. Metatone is supposed to be really good for tiredness and when you’re run down. Also, get some multi-vitamins down you, particularly Iron and Vitamin C.
Lots of hugs.
Xx

Make sure you take some preventative meds to stop you getting ill; cold and flu tablets, hot lemon drinks, rest (as much as you can as you’re embarking on a long month of work and having a small child to contend with) but most importantly, don’t stress, everything will work out.
Take care x
