Little journey: the iPod Challenge continues
Today I’m going to use the blog to link straight to someone else’s blog, but with good reason I think you’ll agree.
The iPod, whose little journey we set in motion a couple of months ago, is continuing to weave its strange way through the country in the hands of faithful TYSICers who signed up to pass it between themselves, adding music as it goes, eventually, towards our winner Anna. (If you’re new to the blog and don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, I’d suggest you trace this story back, because it is quite cool, and I wouldn’t normally say that).
The little device has already visited Scotland as well as England, and this weekend it notched up a third country – Northern Ireland. While in and around Ulster (I phrased that carefully, as people have different definitions of Ulster) it made the acquaintance of no fewer than three carriers, in this increasingly impressive chain of suddenly united strangers. And this chapter of the story also tangled Tim Minchin in with it briefly. And if that doesn’t get you all clicking on that link, I don’t know what will. (I went for a run with Minchin on Saturday morning. You must think I’m so cool.)
Well done once more to everyone who’s made this happen. The longer this goes on, the better it gets. And the more disappointing it will be, I guess, if someone blows it by losing it/stealing it/exchanging it for dope, sweets, sex etc. But that’s the adventure! Heather’s eyewitness account is below. Which seminal album does my blog title come from today? (Not the ‘…challenge continues’ bit, just the first bit.) Tiny, tiny prize for the first person. Well done, iPod handling heroes!!

Should I be worried that this ipod will have seen way more of the UK than I have?

I actually have a friend who always refers to Northern Ireland as the north of Ireland or the six counties. She does History, Irish History and refuses to ever even write it down. But she’s mental so I wouldn’t worry about it too hard.

Great blogs. And thanks for all the links to the other blogs too.
I only use a mobile and I can’t get on google map so it’s great to get updates. And pics too.
Thanks everyone

I’ve had a crappy day, but this has just brightened it up considerably!

You know what mate. Just settle for the north of Ireland. Yes you got it. So simple. Don’t you agree?

This was such odd lovely fun! A truely brilliant idea!

@Alex – I’ve just emailed you back!
I’ve been putting links to people’s blogs onto the map, to give a bit more information of the hand-overs and the like. Its now fully up to date, including the Northern Ireland adventure. 1508 miles!

Hi there! Am so chuffed to have my blog on the Northern Irish leg of the ipod’s travels mentioned (and linked to) in Mark’s blog today.
I’m conscious, however, that the hand-over from lovely TYSIC-er Simon to me on 7th June, when Kate and Hannah also became links, hasn’t really been fully reported here. SImon did a blog about it – which you can find here: http://tuberunner.blogspot.com/2010/06/ipod-chain.html
There’s a good pic of SImon, Kate and me within Simon’s blog, but there isn’t a pic of Hannah (Marbles) – although I know one was taken that evening. Can anyone supply this, or is Hannah just being protective of a secret identity?

I’m now very worried that my city moving is going to cause problems. I have emailed but not had anything back. Please someone tell me that I’m not going to fuck everything up.

Loved hearing the latest adventure of the ipod and really look forward to it coming near me.

I’m glad the iPod is still plodding on its merry way. It’s really weird to see the iPod, and the notebook I bought, which sat in a bag on my sofa for weeks, with people I don’t know! It’s cool that Tim signed it too – but then he’s nice like that!
If you want to read about the handover from me to Simon (and including a link with Simone) you can do on my blog here…

Looking forward to hearing the next part of the adventure.

@Lisan66 Since I Left You an in The Avalanches?
If somebody doesn’t put the track Since I left you (or Frontier Psychiatrist) on that iPod then something has gone wrong in the world. I must get myself on that list.
oooooooooo and was the blog from ages ago called “Can’t you see I’m trying I don’t even like it” from Is This It like I guessed about a week to late?
In fact I’m beginning to love the music references about as much as the blog content itself at this rate.

Woopwoop that’s me!
Possibly the most random afternoon of my entire life.
And I think you’re incredibly cool for going jogging with Minchin. I would give my left leg to do that, which would kind of defeat the purpose.

Oh and I forgot to add, the mental image of you and Minchin jogging about is a lovely/amusing one.

Ahhh brilliant.
I believe it’s due to visit the midlands (and me) quite soon, which is rather exciting, and the on to Edinburgh.
Things like this make me happy.

is it Since I Left You, that’s what my sister says anyway….
