Me me me
OK. I’ve written two columns (for the New Statesman and Yahoo!) in the past hour. I might be going to Senegal to help out with Action Aid’s campaign to get people to sponsor children in the Third World. I’ve pretty much chosen the winners of the book competition, but I’m waiting to hear from my co-judge. I did five interviews today and had three meetings. I have to get home before the election debate.
I basically can’t do a blog today, that’s what I’m saying. There just isn’t any time. Sorry about that. But by posting something, however token, at least I will technically keep up my one hundred percent record.
Hey, the blog has been all ‘me, me, me’ so far. Why don’t you leave a Comment talkking about what you’ve been up to.
I’ll get back to it tomorrow. Promise.

I went to facebook to try and find what i’d been doing that day – apparently nothing except taking a picture of a red scarf… what can i say, it was shiny
(see: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eRjt43NbAXE/S8-Uj1ESpJI/AAAAAAAABsQ/-wyimzNl3g0/s1600/IMG_2768.JPG). I also wrote a poem about it.
as for today – well, yesterday – tired at work, fell asleep on the toilet (too much info, but true story), and discovered, via an e-mail from Lost In TV, that you’ll be recording a new show on 27th May – tickets booked!
also, have set up my blog and fundraising pages for one of my tsyic goals – losing 50lb in 50 weeks. They are:
blog: http://wasifitterinfifty.blogspot.com/
pledge/donate: http://www.justgiving.com/wasifitinfifty/
So, all me, me, me in return!

I had pancakes today. I enjoy pancakes.

This is where the emergency blogger could have jumped in to tag something more substantial on the end of what you’d put.

I didn’t see this yesterday either. But good work Mark on not breaking your blogging record,
My day: (yesterday – to pretend like I read this on the right day)
I was up all night doing an essay that was due in at 9am, finally got it done and submitted online 10 minutes before my alarm was due to go off, so just got ready and dashed off to uni to hand in the hard copy. Got there and realised I had forgotten my student ID, so couldn’t print. Then panicked until a very nice girl from my lecture let me use hers. I had a 4hour lecture on behavioural theory, at the end of which we had to watch supernanny. Being so tired I left before having to endure nearly an hour of the woman who can’t pronounce ‘acceptable’ correctly. In the afternoon I had a two hour lecture on different methods of research and psychopaths. After managing the day on copious amounts of coffee and relentess, I had a very pleasant drive home because the sun was shining and my iPod pulled out some classics. Then I slept.
And so it was..

I dealt with helping coordinate the delivery of 50000 programmes for the cinema, put together a trailer list for the next week (yup, exciting, I get to pick which trailers play with which movie), dealt with a (minor) staffing crisis that I now suspect was hockey playoff-related, and basically ran around like a chicken with its head cut off. I got to leave work a bit early, but only because I went in early. Plans last night were 1) not moving, 2) watching 30 Rock.
Then I got a call (at 8pm) saying a film I had shipped to Ohio last week never made it to its destination. There was a ‘paperwork’ problem and it’s been in a depot in Toronto for a week. No one called to tell me. The theatre in Ohio and distributor are pretty angry. I am livid and turned into a dragon lady with the poor call centre people (a dragon lady with tears in her eyes – I am such a grown up). So yeah, that company that sounds a bit like EdFecks screwed me over, but I should have noticed sooner. (But they still aren’t as bad as the one that sounds like a bit like PoopyMess.)
I later got a text (at 11) from the on-duty manager to say that the box office was short many hundreds of dollars.
So yeah, exciting day. My heart rate still isn’t normal. But my oldest friend and I (we’ve known each other for 26 years) are going out for pancakes, so today is already looking up.

This happened before midnight so technically counts and was a bit weird so I feel I can safely share it here…
I dreamt that I woke up and when I looked in the bathroom mirror I’d miraculously grown a beard – not just stubble but a fairly decent beard. In the dream I was horrified but also a little bit proud of the quality of beard I’d grown.
That’s got to be a little strange hasn’t it? No idea whereabouts in my subconscious that came from – but there you go.

i went rollerblading (TYSIC), taught some french teenagers about drink-driving (dull), and went to the gym (sweaty).

I went to school today and finally learned how to tie my tie. Yeah, now your stuff doesn’t seem so impressive! Meetings smeetings.

I had the day off, so i ate chips and watched telly in my pyjamas.
It was brilliant.

I feel bad I didn’t see this yesterday, but it wasn’t appearing in my stream, I just assumed it was going up late at night. (Went to bed just before 11)
I handed in my massive piece of coursework and napped, there was 2 hours there you could have borrowed.

I had a very nice picnic in the park with my boyfriend in the just-warm-enough sunshine. Later on we visited his grandad; it was his 85th birthday. Then we went to Morrisons. I made spaghetti carbonara for tea and we watched The Cosby Show on DVD. It was a nice day.

I’ve spent the entire day on a train. Or rather, on two different trains. I am now in Sweden instead of Norway. In my dads house. And I should be asleep, as I have to get up early tomorrow…

It seems you did a lot more with your day than I did with mine.
I had a horrible maths exam, one of those ones where you look at the first question and take a mental blank. The voice in my head turned into Malcolm Tucker on a bad day. I’m pretty sure I missed out most of the questions. So that was a fail.
We discovered that the music department is not soundproof, and the guitar teacher we’ve been ogling all year has been able to hear everything.
I played leaders’ debate bingo with my brother; we each came up with a list of political clichés to tick off. It meant that I spend a long time urging them to say “Ahmedinajad” or “The reality is”. I lost, 12-10.
Bit of a mundane day really.

I’ve just been out at the theatre to see Jesus Hopped the A Train – it was heart-breakingly good! Oh, and on the way there, on the tube, I was reading Crap at the Environment by a certain Mr W (am only up to page 37 so far as I was too busy scribbling notes about the thought-provoking play on the tube journey home)
Very much enjoying the book, by the way.

I’ve been explaining the intricacies of British politics to my housemates, first time voters all, who have no idea what is going on, and a very poor grasp of some concepts due to apathy, and lazy journalism besmearching the name of politics left right and centre.
Also been explaining why the Conservatives are fundamentally evil.
Been a fun evening.

I’m slightly worried for the foundations of my maisonette. The was just an ungodly amount of screaming and banging from downstairs.

I did several sudoku, changed my sheets, watched the debate and ate a mini milk. So yeah, i’ve been pretty busy too…

Laura- Oh, um, thanks. I should underscore that it was done out of boredom, not because I have saintly aspirations. Under normal cicumstances I would have just posted it.

Today, I had a History prelim, and was tricked into a false sense of security by the first three questions. You know that way where you sit and think, “Oooh, this is a strange feeling! I know the answers to these! Bloody hell!”, then you move to the next question, and your soul is crushed by “No, nope, wait, that was just a trick. You bastard.” However, I do feel your day was considerably more stressful than mine, as mine did not involve any decisions to go to Senegal.
Yeah, that’s what happened to me today. I also went to Greggs. I highly recommend their sticky toffee muffins, but not the maple and pecan swirls. Those taste crap.

Wow. You are a busy man Mark!
I’ve been hungover today. Just been out to coffee with 2 girls who I’ve known for 18 years (since kindergarten). We’ve been at the same schools our entire life. They’re both graduating from their MSc and leaving Kingston. I am not. (yet.) Although I hardly see them anymore, it’ll be a bit weird to no longer be in the same city.
Very soon I’ll be going out with another friend to have a pint and a burger as a celebration of my last ever exam. It’s gonna be great!

Senegal sounds amazing!
This afternoon, I had double PE. We’ve only got three weeks left before study leave, so Miss said we could choose what we want to do for the rest of the lessons instead of doing ‘Personal Fitness’. We spent the afternoon playing Stuck In The Mud, Duck Duck Goose, Wink Murder and having a 100m Piggyback Sprint
The best PE lesson ever. Yay for being immature
*gulp*
Then I’ve been manically learning French solidly since I got in for my GCSE Speaking exam tomorrow. I’m only slightly terrified for it

Funny it’s a ‘me me me’ blog as I had a me day today! I lazed around, and read which I love doing but never find the time!
I have just hot back from dog training, Laura I feel much the same as you, mainly the frustration! A 9 month old Jack Russell can do that to you. I am now looking forward to a cuppa and bed, she’s racing around chasing a tennis ball! I’d like some of her energy.
Mark, I also agree with Rachel, make sure you have a nice drink and a little rest! You sort of put my me day to shame, as your day actually involved doing a lot of stuff for others too. And well done on still posting something, your dedication is inspiring.

I’ve been to Dublin!! And came 3rd (along with my team mates) in an EU photography competition. Came 3rd in Ireland. Pretty darn proud of myself
Bought a new hat, some shoes and a balloon from McDonalds.
My photography teacher-coach person is (jokingly) my new dad, and well, I’ve had a pretty fantastic day!!
Tried sushi – didn’t like it.
Tried a frappuchino (if that’s how you spell it) – loved it, although it was odd drinking a cold coffee, but strangely lovely.
I finished 3 sudoku puzzles on the train up and back.
And now I’m about to go get some clothes washed.
All in all, a brilliant day. (Although if I had to find fault it would be the alarm clock waking me at 6am)
Thanks for asking!! Oh, and I love the spell check on this thing. It makes me write better then usual, and improves my spelling

Wow! You are a very busy bee (or other industrious animal of your choice) Wish I had your commitment to doing things! Tres impressive!
Just realised that there are a number of exclamation marks there, so will stop. Still, Senegal sounds interesting.

Busy, busy, busy. I completely don’t know you, but I can’t imagine you any other way
My day: at work in the bookshop. I have some friends who call me Bookshop Ben, or just Bookshop, which is the best nickname I can possibly imagine.
But as for friends–I decided on some very flimsy excuse not to go to Amazing Roy’s (another good nickname, I admit) for guitars and roast potatoes, instead choosing to sit at my laptop and get bad posture writing another 1000 words. I need to learn to write in the evenings after work, cos that’s too big a part of my free time to ignore.
And I need to get one of those kneelers, so my back can keep up with me. Any idea where I get them, anybody?

Well today I’ve been to the dentist for a check up and was charged £16.50 for 3 minutes in the chair – not a bad rate per hour if you can stand peering into people’s mouths all day (which I couldn’t). I’ve also been improving my brain by watching the web stream of Professor Brian Cox’s lecture which was brilliant – I’m no scientist and most of it made sense to me so that’s got to be a reflection on what a brilliant educator and communicator he is. I’m now writing this watching the leaders debate – my brain might explode later :s

Terribly boring day; did some training with my dog (many successes, much hitting myself around the head in frustration). Failed miserably to exercise today after my knee, very painfully, went ‘pop’ yet again.
On a more exciting note, I can hear mice in the loft. Ah, the joys of living in the sticks. Also, developing a migraine.
Emmy – what a lovely thing to do!
Thanks for thinking of us, Mark, in the midst of your scary schedule x

Woah! Senegal!
Well, I’ve been packing my bag for my return to my somewhat adopted homeland even though I have 1 week and 6 days left to go. I can’t wait to get back hence the ridiculously early packing.
Yesterday, I found a driver’s license on the pavement and, having nothing better to do, walked all the way to the person’s house to give it back. He was very appreciative but a bit worried, I think, that someone would appear at his front doorstep at 9pm going ‘Look what I found!’.
Yeah, that’s it really.

Busy day myself actually. Amongst the many many deadlines I’ve got at work I finally got round to sorting Sky HD out, in readiness to watch the World Cup in all its glory. I also had a long conversation about who makes the best oven chips (I sided with Aunt Bessie, whereas the group seemed to favor McCain!?) before realizing that I’m not by any means an expert on the subject. Made a chili for tea (nice).

Well since you ask, I got a phone call from Thames Valley Police today telling me they had found my iphone. A month a go I got my drink spiked and phone stolen, which to be honest I was lucky it was only that which happened. Devastated about my iphone loss, as they become an extension of your brain, and when that extension lead is sethered it can cause massive upset. After this telephone call I was over joyed, but even more excitingly (?) the policeman told me it had been found in a raid of a shop which they had suspected of selling dodgy gear. So this means me and many others will get their prized possessions back. Happy days. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the election debate. Well done Mark on your productive day and still remarkably unbroken blog record *cheers*
Big love
Gabi

bloody hell, very impressive. i was proud of myself cos i tidied my room!
along with that, i’ve done bits of dissertation writing, two loads of washing, and messed about on google maps.
