Work-in-progress shows

Dear all.

Once again, a traditional-style blog today, that is one which imparts information in a fairly dull and dry manner, rather than seeking to entertain or provoke thought. It should be a fun week of blogs ahead, though, including a competition to win the first printed copies of my novel; the results of Mark’ll Fix It (Possibly), where I offered to arrange for someone to cross something off their ‘I have never done’ list; probably some more agony aunt fun; the next instalment of the Very Late Review; and… wait for it… news on the first stage in the iPod chain. I am now at a stage where I’m planning my blog schedule further ahead than certain TV stations I could name plan their programming.

For today, though, I’m simply going to mention that I am doing a series of warm-up shows to ready my new show for the rigours of the Edinburgh Fringe (which you can already buy tickets for, http://www.assemblyfestival.com/ ) and then the extensive tour which follows. These shows will be low-key prototypes of the festival/tour show, so it’s probably not worth coming if you’re planning to see the show at a later stage, UNLESS you are the sort of person who likes watching a show develop or likes hearing the same jokes several times. Which, luckily for me, some readers of this blog are.

So, here are the confirmed dates; where possible I’ve added the names of the theatres. Some are on sale, some not. Remember if you don’t see one near you, this is only the prelude to a huge great UK and Australia tour, the details of which you can find elsewhere on this site.

OK. So.

June 4,5 Brake Hall, Ashford

June 7 Comedy Box, Bristol

June 24 The Theatre, Chipping Norton

July 5 Comedy Box, Bristol

July 9 Junction, Cambridge

July 10 Theatre Royal, Winchester

July 17 Corn Exchange, Newbury

July 24 Riverside Studios, London

July 25, 27 Outside The Box, Hampton

July 26 Outside The Box, Kingston

July 28 Outside The Box, Surbiton (although this one says ‘cancelled’ on the web. I don’t know why. Or if it’s true.)

…on top of this, I will be doing a London preview on May 30, which I’ll reveal details of shortly.

And even before that, headlining the Union Chapel, again in London, on May 6. This won’t be a full show of me. But the bill is excellent and so are the surroundings, though I’ve never quite got the hang of playing there.

Right. I hope some of this is accurate. I had to Google myself to check some of the details, which is never recommended. Among other things, I found a’memorial service for Mark Watson’ in the town of Liss. Hmm. Still it’s only a memorial-service-in-progress, I guess.

Well, my vacation time is not going to extend to Fringe time, so I think I’ll try to see one of the previews in early July instead. Fingers crossed that it all works out!

/me wonders if her cousin is still a guest lecturer in Cambridge with housing…

Seats 9 and 10 on row N of the Hammersmith Apollo on the 10th December (a Friday I believe) officially belong to me.

So probably will wait to be surprised then. Also I don’t think I am actually in the country when you are in London and Kingston. ( I do love being able to say “I’ll be out of the country” fingers crossed the volcano will have fucked off by then)

Best of the lucky stuff for the whole endeavour though!

    ^_^

I’ve been looking for an excuse to go to the Theatre Royal since I moved to Winchester last year.

And what an excellent excuse too!

I like listening to the same jokes over and over. But then I start laughing before the funny bit because I know whats coming and I look like abit of a loser. Worth it though.

Hello Mark. Not meaning to question your own knowledge of yourself or your diary, but I think your Union Chapel show is actually on May 8th. Or has it changed?
Also, for anyone who wants to go to it, it isn’t listed on the Union’s website but tickets are available through the usual ticketing outlets.
    Thanks, folks!

I can’t wait for you to come back to Australia! I hope you’ll come to Perth seeing as you’ve only done a few shows here.
Planning is a lovely thing. I love to plan. Probably an aspect of OCD I suspect though.
Looking forward to these blogs. I’m going to have to find a way to read them at school though. Teachers may not like…

Yeah, looks like those are out for me too. Shall catch it in Edinburgh though. Although Mark, should you want to a preview for your Midlands fans in a tiny room for little money on a Monday night in Leamington Spa then do get in touch :)

I couldn’t see yesterday’s blog at all last night, before or after midnight, or this morning?! Weird. I was worried about your everyday record. Strange, anyway glad it’s all ok

Arghh, I’m confused! I was looking on the Durham Gala Theatre website the other day, and it said that you’re doing a preview show there on the 27th July … but you’re in Hampton that night?
I was going to get tickets for the Durham one as soon as I had money, but is it not happening any more? :(

Sorry if I’m being thick, I’m tired :)

Damn I’m not sure I can make any of these, and I was rather hoping to so I could (like a proper nerd) follow the progress of the show. Hmmm.
I’ll plot things somehow I’m sure.
