Thanks to my audience in Bristol last night and tonight. You made me and my talented support man Eric Lampaert very welcome indeed. There’s enormous pressure now on tomorrow’s audience to come up with the goods, as well as the people of Wellingborough on Friday. After that I am heading to Australia, where this show will make its festival ‘premiere’. I would say it’s in reasonably good shape and it’s still early enough in the process that I am enjoying it/feel confident in the material/am not depressed about the nature of comedy, the place of entertainers in the universe, human nature etc. If you are one of the people reading this in Australia, prepare to be entertained in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney soon.
Also, I should report that I have done two interviews with Aussies today and both of them easily sidestepped the traps detailed in last week’s whingeing blog and asked all sorts of challenging questions, despite the lateness/earliness of the hour. So thanks again to those people (Chris and Danielle).
Lastly, at the weekend I will be on the Graham Norton Show, I think. I know I’m definitely filming it. It remains to be seen whether it IS screened this weekend and whether, if so, I am edited out of it and replaced by a CGI Russell Kane. But it certainly looks like I’ll be on.
That’s me. Back to the interviews. A man is calling right now from Sydney. It is 11.40pm. He knows that, though. It’s not his fault. In his world it is already tomorrow.
